A few years ago I used to live on 5th and Walnut...(oh memories of the ghetto ass apartment that saw many, many crazy things). One day a Thai Restaurant popped up out of nowhere to my surprise. Walked over with my then roommate and fell in love. Baiplu is the place where I feel in love with Thai Food! This place was great; clean and very, very cheap. We would get full just with one entree and steamed rice. I would recommend this place to everyone who visited Long Beach. After moving to a different neighborhood, I had not been back to Baiplu in over a year or so. My San Pedro friend suggested it last night...he just discovered it and fell in love too. So we went back to my first Thai Love. Sad to say the wait staff were either too into the Laker game or practicing for a role of walking zombies. It took a while to get our order in...even thought we had said it was to go. Needless to say the services was poor. The food..well the food is still so freaking good. Ordered the spicy garlic shrimp which were super tasty and delicious. Only bad thing was the quantity!!!! Baiplu what the hell happened?? It's this damn economy huh?? Man there were literally like 6 shrimps or maybe 7..what a disappointment :( The sushi was good but expensive...was never really a fan of Aki Sushi (come back to life..Sushi Studio!!) Anyhow I digress...so Baiplu I don't know what to say. I love the fact that you make very spicy food even when we order mild! But I don't know if I love you enough to tolerate the small portions. That's all you have to do...don't lower the prices but just give us more food :) Guess I shall take my friend's advice and go during Happy Hour...like the thrifty (cheap ass) person that I am :)

Located right off E. 7th, Baiplu Thai Food (and Aki Sushi Bar) is like getting two for the price of one. Pull up to your left, and you get freshly made sushi and at your right, continue towards some kick ass Thai food. Like other reviewers mentioned, don't get fooled by the dual restaurant concept here. This isn't like Michael Jordan thinking he can play pro baseball. Both sides of the coin serve good stuff and could be standalone restaurants. But it's the dualness "osity" thats what makes this place. I chose the "Thai" side last Friday and was super impressed. Fresh out of the pan, the Pad Thai noodles were served with the usual fixings on the side (i.e. bean sprouts, minced carrots and cabbage, crushed peanuts). The contrast of the pan fried noodles with the raw vegetables made the dish really fresh tasting, and it wasn't greasy at all. I also had a generous portion of the Pineapple Red Curry. Though I ordered it "spicy", instead of that bite, the spice mixed in with that coconut broth enough to add some really good flavor. Lots of pineapple chunks, tomatoes, and other veggies added to the heartiness of the broth, which was very rich but not heavy at all. They also do more of your old favorites: chicken satay and fried rice. Super comfort food to load up on. Peanut sauce is thick and flavorful! Service is pretty good, meaning, they're quick and friendly and keep those water refills coming. Multiple servers work the floor so you've never got just one. Overall, nice place to grab a bite, and extra points for the dual restaurant concept. Note: Parking is horrible during busy hours. They also do delivery if you live in the area.

Ah, Baiplu. Fantastically cheap lunch I've come to know very well, as I was a regular for a couple of years when I was working right around the corner at molaa. It has all of the things I could want in a lunch place - friendly & quick service, cheap prices, generous portions, the option for sushi - and some actual healthy options. That's right, folks, they serve brown rice here. Yeah, I know, you always say you can't keep to your healthy eating and still go out to lunch with co-workers, but I say "Bah!" Get yourself some brown rice and some cashew chicken with the sauce on the side, and tell your trainer "In your face!" when she says that you have to bring your lunch to work everyday. Thumbs Up: -A full lunch for six dollars?! And leftovers?! -All sorts of options to fulfill that Thai craving, but keep your ass fitting in your jeans. -Service is faster than bullet train to Vegas. Thumbs Down: -The parking lot absolutely sucks. -Sushi leaves much to be desired. Unless you desire mostly bland, not super fresh sushi. Then there's nothing left for you to desire.

First off, who orders sushi at a Thai restaurant? You can only imagine what the quality will be like! Anyways, I did a phone order here a couple weeks ago after moving into the neighborhood...(i'm officially a homeowner by the way!!) While spending an evening unpacking, I decided to order in Thai food for my sister, mom and nephews. My mother, being Thai herself, warned me not to order in as she could just make some food for us. But, I didn't want to listed because I didn't want to wait. So I go ahead and put an order in for a couple orders of pad thai, red curry and beef skewers. The pad thai was....ehhh....I've definitely had better. They're stingy with the noodles but are oh so giving with the vegetables..... The red curry was decent. Even my mom said it was okay. Which is a huge deal because my mom is very picky with her food. Especially if it's Thai. My only downside to the curry was that the chicken they put in it were scraps. A lot of fat. The beef skewers were the worse. Those things were dry as hell. It's like they cooked it 3 days ago and are just serving it now. The only reason it gets two stars is because my mom was okay with their curry. If it wasn't for her, they'd only get one star. I shouldn't listened to my mom....

i looooove the food here, i have tried a few different things and they were all delicious. HOWEVER, we got food delivered from there for the first time last night and to our horror our ENTIRE credit card #, including the 3 digit security code from the back of the card was on our "packager receipt." it is in the "remarks" area so make sure you cross it out/tear up your receipt before you throw it away. you might want to just do cash though, because this definitely means that the delivery people have your name, address, full card #, and security code. scary!! either way, id recommend eating there, its great every time.

I just have to say that the coconut rice with mango dessert is the best thing I've tasted in my entire life. Ever. They're also very accommodating to vegetarians and will make anything you want without fish sauce (typically, all Thai food has it)/

This restaurant is truly a diamond in the rough. Who knew it is located in such a "bad" area of LB. If you drive by, you would never notice and stop by this restaurant. My friend recommended it to me and honestly, I was kinda skeptical at first. Why? Number one, Thai food and sushi together. Number two, the location and the appearance of the restaurant was not welcoming. But boy was I wrong (never judge a book by it's cover right). It's very clean and cute inside the restaurant. One side is for sushi and one for Thai food. We only tried the spicy tuna roll and it was whatevers. The real review is for the Thai food. Very authentic and delicious. Other Thai restaurants go crazy on the typical, cliche Thai dishes like curry, papaya salad, pad thai, tom yum soup,... but this place has everything. Every single dish is made freshly and you can request from no, to mild, to medium spicy and they cook exactly how you want it. The menu also has picture of the food. The waiters/waitresses were friendly and attentive. I saw the owner here a few times and she seemed very friendly as well, walking around each table and making sure the customers are happy with the food. The food is kinda pricey though but worth it in my opinion. Small parking area, gets pretty packed so I had to knock out one point.

My favorite Take-out Thai place in Long Beach! Bring on the cream cheese wontons, and Pad Thai with Tofu!

Great food with friendly waiters and waitresses! They also delivery for free which is super convenient! And it's fast too! I eat here at least one or twice a month!! Four, because the atmosphere is so-so.

I've been going here for over 13 years. The prices are decent and the food is excellent. I order strictly sushi, but the fam orders cooked food. It's all great. I love Koi too, but the prices are better here and I've never had to wait. The ambience is really nice inside the place, plus there is ample parking. The service is always good and the Sushi chef is always friendly. It sits in a not so great part of town, but don't let that stop you from going. Don't be tempted to order sushi delivery if you live within the radius. I tried it once and it didn't hold up. It's worth the drive.

  • Justin D.

This is the best bet in LB - food is very consistent and cheap. The sushi is whatever, but the curries and sauce dishes are really good. I always roll the crying tiger ( sliced steak and spicy lime ) or the tofu special ( fried crisp w/ sweet spicy sauce. recommended for lb residents for sure

They print your entire credit number on your receipt. Really? Plus it's overpriced. There are better places all over Long Beach.

I really love this place. This is the only Thai restaurant in Long Beach I will oder from, and there are a lot! I have tried several others, but Baiplu has got me hooked. I've eaten in as well as had delivery. The very few times I have eaten in, the service was a bit slow. I often get the delivery and it arrives super quick. I'd much rather have the food delivered than to have to deal with the parking anyway. My favorite dishes are the shrimp pad thai and the chili mint with beef. I have also tried the crying tiger..yum! And the red curry is soooo delicious! I have not ordered anything here that I have not liked (not counting the sushi which was not so good but technically that is a different restaurant).

This review is only for the Bai-Plu Thai side of the restaurant, as I have never tried the sushi. I first discovered this place from a flyer on my front gate, and gave 'em a try, and was pleasantly suprised by the quality from a place that was so inexpensive. (I'm not gonna call anything that tasty cheap) The delivery was and still is insanely fast. While everything I've had was at least good, some things are definately better than others, but by far, the best thing I've had off the menu is the Hot and Sour Seafood Soup. I rave about the soup to anyone who'll listen, and have had numerous friends go there, most of them skeptical, but all of them coming out later agreeing with my assessment. Some of them have said that nothing else in the restaurant really impressed them all that much, but they would return for that soup. I haven't tried the sushi side of the restaurant, simply because I've never heard anyone I know talk it up. Everyone has given me a poor to so-so review of the sushi, and I just haven't been motivated to try it myself when I know how good the other side is.

This one of my favorite thai restaurants in Long Beach. Since I moved out to San Diego, I am not able to come here as often as I like anymore, but whenever I'm in Long Beach, I try my best to make it out to this restaurant. Their thai food is delish... it is however, a little more expensive than other thai restaurants. I love their pad see ew, papaya salad, and beef salad. MMMMmm. Makes my mouth water just thinking about it. As for their sushi, I've only tried a few rolls. I generally come here for the thai food because to me, the rolls are a bit too expensive for the quality. Their service is generally very good. They are super friendly and attentive. It's also located in sort of a ghetto area of LB. It kind of seems a little out of place because it's located in a residential area and there are a lot of houses that surround it. But... that's okay. I dig it.

Came here for dinner on a Wednesday, not too busy so service was good. The japanese maki rolls (or upgraded california rolls) were good but on the pricey side. The spicy salmon cut rolls was only $5! (bargain vs other places.) I would like to go back to try their actual Thai food. Don't take people here that cannot make up their minds on what to eat, the menu is thick! Parking is a bit complicated.

This is a great little place for those who cant seem to make up their mind. Where else can I get yellow curry, a las vegas roll and shrimp dumpling soup? Ive never waited long to eat here, always great service and the word on the street is that they deliver. I need to get on that!! Definitely give this place a whirl.

I wasn't sure what to think of this place based upon the outside.. But I was soon in love with this place.. I like that I can have the best of both worlds here. Japanese and Thai.. So we ordered some Tom Kha Gai and Red Curry and a few rolls...... Everything was so good... The only thing that I thought was weird was that the curry doesn't come with a side of rice. That was extra. My eyes were larger than my stomach because I became full very fast. I can't wait to come back... The Thai Tea = AMAZING!

  • Selene P.

This is our favorite lunch joint! Cheap, the Thai food is good (the sushi not so much), and the people there already know us so that's always nice! It's also great when there are soccer games in the afternoon on tv so we can watch them there while we eat. I recommend their panang curry, fried rice, wonton soup and spicy noodles!

Oki so I live like couple of blocks from this place. The food here is great. I especially love their volcano roll, crispy pork with mint leaves and spicy noodle. Yeah I love getting this combination and the taste always comes out perfect and constant. The staff is nice and prompt most of the time. I love the food, but the service isn't what I expect. Check out this place for the food not the service.

Ordered take out Monday night. My girlfriend got food poisoning - the next day was a long one for her, starting at about 4am. Historically, all of our orders have been good. But.... tasted like the chef took Monday off. Also, I could have walked the order over in shorter time than it took the hostess to get mine down. Plus, she called me back telling me the giftcard I was using had expired - whatever the hell that meant. So, I repeated my credit card information and the order went through. Get it together Baiplu. You're slippin.

Finally got to try their Thai food, and I thought it'd be better. I was thoroughly unimpressed with their yellow curry (my thai food litmus test) lunch special. The curry was too runny, too sweet and a very light (almost fluorescent-looking) yellow. Plus it had little cubed carrots and peas that looked and tasted like the frozen variety. The potatoes too were overly mushy and had a rather strange texture. Overall, the taste was OK, but I've had way better curry at just about every other Thai place I've ever tried. The lunch special came with a mound of rice, cup of chicken and mushroom soup (good), and two "wontons," which were just two wonton wrappers deep fried with a sliver of some kind of filling. I guess it's pretty good for just $5.95, but I don't mind paying more for better food. My friend had the red curry that looked better, and their spicy squid salad was good, with lots of fresh squid and veggies, but overall this didn't seem like that great of a place. There are so many other better Thai places in Long Beach, I really don't have to come back here again. Plus, there's that teeny weeny parking lot, which can really become an issue when it's busier.

I have been to this place in Long Beach and I have to say that the food was delicious and the wait staff was great; but this review is mostly for the sushi bar. My friends and I were sitting at the Sushi Bar and I noticed a fly inside with the ingredients used in Sushi, it landed in one of the dishes and consequently died, the Sushi Chef then proceeded to throw away only the area in which the fly died, but continued to use the rest of the bowl...needles to say I was totally disgusted. I didn't have sushi on this day, I had their salmon soup which was good, but not great. I will definitely NOT be returning here again.

I love this place. The food is always excellent and the staff remembers you when you come in which is always nice. Average prices for sushi but what is cool is that there is a full Thai menu to go along with the big sushi menu. The thing that sells me the most is the $11 big bottle of awesome sake and a big Asahi for $6 and you get a shot glass and a beer glass and do all the sake bombs you want. They always have sports games on here to which is cool.

Sushi is good, not great. Not cheap, has innovative sushi rolls. Came here with my husband on a lark, not sure if we will come back, but maybe. Not a fan of the Green Tea Ice Cream

  • S P.

They have the ABSOLUTE BEST spicy chicken fried rice. Just thinking about it makes my mouth water... The fried rice has just the right consistency. Perfect amount of oil without being oily or too dry. Flavored with sweet basil and garlic along with bell pepper and chili peppers, it's delicious but spicy so be careful. Even Mild may be too spicy for some. Never tried the sushi there.

I'm between 3 and 4 stars... Husband and I went to Aki's for dinner last night after 3 phone calls to mutual sushi loving friends asking where to go. All said Aki's. It was alright. Not great. I did enjoy my sushi, but it didn't leave me in a sushi coma... as all great sushi should. Here's what we ordered: Albacore on the Beach- albacore was said to be seared, but seemed to be cooked. Some weren't even pink in the middle. The fried onion garnish was delicious... we ate all of it. Hot Night Roll- spicy tuna with cucumber topped with avocado and hot sauce. Tasty. Caterpillar Roll- eel with avocado and eel sauce. It tasted okay, but it completely fell apart when you pick it up. Also, I'm pretty sure that I found bone. Las Vegas Roll- salmon, tuna, cucumber and cream cheese fried as a crunchy roll. I did like this one, but wasn't thrilled. I guess the problem was... nothing left me thrilled. I miss going to sushi and not wanting to stop eating because it tastes so damn good, as your gut it busting out of your jeans (elastic waistbands people!). Also, the service was good, very friendly... but it took a while to get our food. I think they get so many take out orders that the sushi chefs are too busy. I'd say we waited about 10 minutes for our first roll to come out.

  • Rhonda B.

The food is good, but the service sucked the last time I was there. I finished most of my dinner before the waitress remembered I ordered sushi. Ummm not so great neighborhood, but the parking lot is close enough for someone to hear your cries for help. The drinks are okay, but I'm not sure if it's worth the drive from my side of town, but if I'm in the area and want Thai and Sushi, I'll stop in.

Ordered take out here on New Years day. Food was great!!! Everything we ordered, our entire family loved. This includes my 5 year old son and 2 year old daughter. Can't wait to go back and try more. I especially like the Spicy Thai Beef Salad. My husband and I shared and I even had some left over the next day.

Good Thai and sushi here in a slightly sketchy block of 7th St. Cheap lunch specials. They even do a great kungpao chicken too. I guess it's sort of pan-Asian. Great service. Check it out.

Consistently good food and friendly service. Usually ordered from here for dinner at work because they deliver and they have a lot of choices. I usually got avocado rolls and soup, but their other stuff is good too. Thai iced tea is HUGE! They forgot to bring our soups once, but they went back to the restaurant and redelivered them, which was nice.

This is my other place that I truly miss from the bottom of my heart! (I moved to SF and have yet to find a Thai place that comes even a smidget close to Bai Plu! I love love love and love some more the food here! And, I will flat out say that I AM THE ONE RESPONSIBLE FOR BRINGING A LARGE PORTION OF THEIR LB HOUSING AUTHORITY CUSTOMERS HERE AS WELL AS MANY OTHERS! There, I'm that bold and straight faced serious. Everyone I recommend BP to comes back to me with nothing but awesome things to say about them. I need to be HIRED as the BP spokeswoman or I'll take a few shares of stock, whichever the owner prefers! This is like mine and my bff's spot! Yes, I know the prices have gone up, but that's business. Anyway, enough of my obsessive love with BP, this is a great place to check out. MY FAVES: - Thai Iced Tea - Jan Pu Extra Spicy - BBQ Chicken (almost better than Black folks. lol.) - Pad Thai w/ Chicken and Shrimp - Pad See Ew w/ Chicken or beef - Combination Fried Rice - Chicken Satay - Egg Rolls - Shrimp Fried Wonton - Wonton Soup - Shrimp Cakes - Fried Wontons - Shrimp Rolls - Plum Wine Ice Cream

After eating at a Thai restaurant in the OC for lunch, I immediately missed the lunch specials at Bai Plu. My work friend, Hector and I would go here during our lunches. He would get his lunch bento box special and I would get the mint leaves with brown rice and soup (it's Tom Yum Gai - w/ Chicken and Mushroom) for lunch. Where else can you get the option to choose Thai or Japanese food for your lunch specials? Only here.

Sushi has gone down the drain ever since the real Aki left & opened up his own place . Six yrs ago the sushi was top notch & the bar was packed every night. Now you get the crappy individually quick frozen tuna. If you look in the fish case & see pre sliced fish stay away!!!! Thats why you get the jerky sashimi thats smells like cat food. I used to love the Volcano sushi. Soft shell crab appetizer was priced well. And would order Chinese broccoli with crispy pork from the Thai side. Go to Akis sushi on PCH where you can still catch him filet a real tuna in front of you.

I have to agree with almost everyone else and give Baiplu/Aki a great review! Ok - I haven't actually eaten at the restaurant yet, but I have gotten delivery twice. The first time wasn't spectacular, hence the four stars, not five. I was HUNGRY this afternoon. I partied like a rock star last night and it was time to refuel. There isn't much in the way of delivery around here, so I hit Baiplu for Pad Thai and Pineapple Fried Rice. The lady who took my order was really friendly and fast and 45 minutes later I had my food. The pad thai was amazing and is also gone. I ordered it with Chicken and Tofu and extra lime. Like I said - It disappeared pretty quickly. The pineapple fried rice was yummy too and it'll make a great breakfast tomorrow morning.

What scares the bejesus out of me is this place has 3 and a half stars. The one on Bellflower is the same distance below mediocre. Check your bill carefully too they won't hesitate to zap you. I used to go to the one on 7th st. for a few years but then I eased up on my daily beer consumption and reality miraculously surfaced. Actually the shame is I usually experienced pretty good service here most of the time. It's a shame that the product doesn't back the staff up well enough. As happened to another yelper several times I was ill after eating here. Be careful I hope it's different for you. They care more about money than the method they use to aquire it..

When is this place moving? They really need to get into a more clean setup. A GIANT roach(size of a laptop mouse?) crawled over my girlfriends back of seat and ran across the top of the booth towards the other table. Scared the shit out of all of us, and this was just before our food came out. When your craving sushi and this happens, what do you do? We sucked it up, ate our food, talked to the wait staff(they didnt give a shit it seemed, claiming "oh we fumigated, they must be leaving". and didn't bother comping anything dispite my obvious and vocal disappointment. I'll wait till they move locations before returning.

I am such a huge fan of the Thai food here. I've had an vegetarian version of the spicy soup, the egg flower soup, and a few different versions of spicy Thai fish, including the whole tilapia and a filleted version. The fish is so good! There are so many flavors packed into it, it is very complex and delicious. And they make it really spicy for you if you ask :) I plan to go back again and again.

With so many other great Thai restaurants in Long Beach, I don't know how this place can get so many decent reviews. My previous experiences were mediocre at best. I tried both the Japanese and Thai sides and wasn't that thrilled. But, I like to give restaurants a chance, particularly if they deliver. This last time, however, was the LAST time I try Aki. My lunch special from the Thai side was pretty darn crappy. Small portions. Unimaginatively presented. Bland to totally bland rice. Pathetic excuse for a salad. Misinformed on whether or not the chicken contained bones. But then, oh then, came the real stinker. The fried rice had a shrimp tail in it with NO SHRIMP. How does that happen? Did someone spit it out? Did I get the lunch crowd's left-overs? YUCK.

YOUR WEBSITE SAYS $10.00 MINIMUM FOR DELIVERY!!!! THEY REFUSED TO DELIVER BECAUSE I WAS A COUPLE OF DOLLARS UNDER $15!!!! UPDATE YOUR WEBSITE!! I'm a regular, my sister's and I order ridiculous amounts of food from them every week. The one time I ordered on my own, they give me this BULLSHIT...LEARN to keep your regulars happy, you just lost at least 8 regulars in 1 phone call! Also FYI their sushi is terrible since Aki left. You want sushi? Go find him at his new location at Redondo & 7th!!! We just went for the pad thai and curry.

I'd actually give this place a 4.5, but I will round up because Aki's saved me from another night of horrid room service experience (see: Hilton on Ocean Ave). Yay for sushi delivery and thanks to my fellow yelpers for helping me find this place!! The guy who took my phone order was really nice, and better yet, repeated my address and phone number back to me. Seems simple, but I can't tell you how often I've had delivery people call me after an hour and tell me they couldn't find me because they had written my address down incorrectly. The delivery guy was really nice, too. The edamame was perfectly done and of great quality-- nice and plump. Again, it seems simple, but a lot of places will over or under cook and/or salt them and the beans are really small. The miso soup was really good, too. Now for the sushi: the fish was very fresh, there were no weird stringy pieces of fatty tissue that really shouldn't be there but sometimes make their way into poor quality sushi, and the portions were good. The unagi was a little on the dry side and the fish wasn't the most flavorful that I've had, but it sure as hell beats an unfresh fishy flavor. I liked that they had a nice variety of rolls to choose from. Prices are about average for sushi, so no surprise in either direction there. OH!!! And the best thing about them? No mayonnaise!!! Just when I had started thinking that the sushi world had gone out of its mayonnaise-saturated mind, I found a place that knows that the two just don't mix. I can't tell you how long I grinned with glee! Truly, it gave me hope for the salvation of the entire sushi-eating world...

Seeing as I've never dined in, I can only talk about their food delivery-wise. But that said, how awesome is it to have a place that delivers both thai food and sushi? Very awesome says I. Prices are alright, and they deliver in a timely fashion, considering what you order. Thai food is pret-ty, pret-ty good. Jan Pu, Crying Tiger, and all manner of curries are all good. Never hurts to get the mango sticky rice. However, they charge extra for rice, which is kinda lame. The sushi is alright too - probably not what I would want if I was to go out to a sushi place, but since they bring it to my door, then hey, good enough.

I have lost track of the number of times I've been here, but I know I've NEVER been disappointed. The servings are ample, the quality is great. Haven't read all of the reviews so I'm not sure why the overall is so mediocre, but I love this restaurant!

Don't let the rough exterior deter you. Don't let its "All things to all people" approach (Thai food AND a full-service sushi bar) frighten you. Don't be put off by the unflattering, too-bright lighting. Do enjoy above-average-quality sushi + pleasant sushi bar service (minus the notoriously indifferent service from the waitron) + prices that are within reasonable limits for the LA area. I'd go back. But maybe only after I'd tried a few other places nearby first to be sure I wasn't missing out on something just as good (for a bit less money) or better (for same or a bit more money).

Alright Yelpers, it was your reviews that sent us here! My husband always wants Thai, but after eating it all the time in college I kinda got burned out on the stuff. This was my FIRST Thai excursion in Long Beach and I gotta say, I wasn't as impressed as everyone else. The Positive Parts: 1. My dinner, #90 Jan Pu, was pretty good. It was rice noodles tossed with crab, green onions and spices. I liked the overall flavor, even though it wasn't as spicy as I'd hoped. For a Thai noodle dish, it was surprisingly ungreasy and not too heavy like a big heaping plate of chow mein can be. 2. Service was efficient but not that personable. We didn't have to wait for a table, water came right away and was refilled frequently, and the food came quickly. The place was fairly busy but we never went too long without someone checking in on us. The Negatives: 1. Stressful parking lot! It was small and full when we arrived. They had it set up so a few cars could park in stalls on one side while other people could park perpendicularly behind the stalls. I know they were doing this to maximize the number of cars they could fit in, but that kind of situation really makes me nervous (mostly because I just backed into a guy in a lot like this). Luckily, a couple came out and left just as I was trying to turn around and leave. I am seriously THAT deterred by bad parking; I would have left if that spot hadn't opened up. Crappy parking is one of the many things that drove me from the Bay Area two years ago, and I hate when it rears it's ugly head in Long Beach. 2. My husband's Pad Thai was sadly disappointing. I know Pad Thai as a wonderfully flavorful dish; it should be a little spicy and nutty. This Pad Thai was not even a little spicy and the only nutty taste came from the peanuts. It was kind of plain! 3. $8 a plate is a good price, but I felt like the portions were not up to dinner quantity standards. I could tell from the pictures in my menu that the plates were not heaping, but when our meals arrived, they were SMALL! 4. My plate was lined with pieces of Romaine lettuce about the size of playing cards. This was extremely annoying so after two or three bites of pulling up wet lettuce with my noodles, I finally had to pick it all out. Interesting Parts: 1. I got a Lady's Menu. I'd never even heard of a Lady's Menu before (I guess that shows you how ladylike I am). Only my husband's menu had prices on it. That was fine by me, but weird. 2. Large groups are welcome here with reservations. A group of twenty rolled in right after we ordered. Should you come with a group, please don't invite your friends who think it's funny to repeat "a$$hole" over and over in the style of the baby from "Meet the Fockers." It wasn't that cute in the movie, and it's definitely NOT cute when an attention starved 20-year-old woman does it. OVERALL: Good, not great.

Great place! Prompt service, with people who actually want to know why you did or didn't like something, huge menu, and lively atmosphere!! You can always tell a place is good when it's always busy, and it is. And you can have both sushi and thai at the same time!! There are some interesting items that may seem intimidating, but are actually very good. Any of the fried whole fish are very good, as are any of the funny named sushi. There's a sushi roll that has mango on the outside - AWESOME! Any of the curry dishes are great, even with tofu. We've also had delivery at least fifteen, twenty times, with sushi and thai, and have never been disappointed.

The restaurant is in a bit of bad side of Long Beach. But I must admit the food is great! It's actually delicious!..... The service is great the people are nice and sometimes funny. They have a flat screen where they play music videos .....which I think it's cool for a restaurant to have. Because I don't like feeling weird when people don't talk when they are eating together.... Anyways You should try the Pad see iw...that's the best...... I wouldn't recommend if you are taking someone on a date ...that's if you want to impress them. Only because of the way it looks from the outside. Maybe your date might think that you are cheap. But if you take someone that really down to earth then they will love it.......I'm telling you the food is so freaking good! :o)

We had a blast sitting at the sushi bar of Baiplu (or is the sushi half a different name?) We went on a weeknight when hubby boy and I couldn't decide what to eat. There were two spots at the bar so we took a seat in front of the sushi chef. We began with our typical spicy tuna roll and then asked for recommendations from the sushi chef. The rest of the night was a blur of delicious! Our chef was so amazing! He made us so many dishes we lost track and made samples of anything he thought we might enjoy (gratis of course!) The coolest thing is that he cut up this green root and served it on a small plate for us to try. He said it was the natural wasabi and not the powder kind you find everywhere. He said it's super expensive and rare and we felt very privileged to try it. I looked it up when we got home and couldn't figure out if it was a line of BS or not.. but regardless he deserved the big fat tip we left him.. he was the best tour guide of sushi I've ever encountered!

My wife and I went to Bai-Plu for the first time during the lunch hour. Our first impression was that the place is very clean, spacious, and beautifully decorated. We ordered three dishes: red curry with rice, papaya salad with dried shrimp, and a specialty roll. All three dishes were full of flavor, enough to feed us till we were full, and were made to our liking. We were very impressed by the sushi bar and menu, which had a lot to chose from. We look forward to returning again for lunch soon and taking in the happy hour specials too.

This is a great place if you want sushi and you are with people who don't like sushi and want thai instead. They offer a wide selection of sushi. I really like the staff and they have a cool aquarium with a nemo and a dori (from the movie). Their delivery is very consistent even on busy nights.

If you like crappy tasting Sushi or really bad Thai food... you found the right spot. However, if want really great Sushi then I would go down to Aki's Sushi (not related) on 7th and Redondo... Also... never trust a place that crosses different food types. For example, I would never eat a pizza from a pizza hut that doubles as a taco bell... Nor would I eat from a Green Burrito that is also a Carls Jr. Same shit here... A Sushi bar that doubles as a Thai place. Have fun chewing on yellow tail that tastes like rubber..

We have been going to Baiplu Thai restaurant for years and still say that it is the best Long Beach has to offer. We have been to Thailand and this is the closes thing to the real thing. Enjoy.

This is my go to sushi spot. it may not be because the sushi is amazing, but because I just really like the people here. It never ceases to make me laugh when a waitress tries to shake the last bit of my beer out before getting me a new one. And the owner is a great woman who always remembers us, even after i moved away for a year and a half and came back. The food it self is consistently good. I like the fact that i can get both sushi and thai at the same place too. I go for the Chicken Panang Curry, but it seems like all the curries are good here judging from my friends responses. I like the variety of sushi rolls but tend to stick to just traditional rolls and salmon/tuna sushi. Both this and the bellflower location are great!

We go to this place ones a week for sushi, and we always sit in front of Kaz. He is a Sushi Master Chef. One time we even sat next to Nobu Matsushisa's friend who lives up on PV. He spoke so highly of Kaz. He is right because this is the best sushi we have ever had by far. Kaz is traditional, and yet very creative. He is also very nice and fun to share sake with. When you try this place for sushi ones, Kaz will make you come back again and again.

OK - so I'm basically a five-star reviewer... Seems like when I take the time to review a place, I only do it with my favorite places. Bai Plu is one of them. We've been to numerous Thai places from Santa Monica to the OC and beyond, and this is one of the best. It's the only one that I've been to that has a sushi place attached to it, and they seem pretty cool with you mixing your order up between Thai & Sushi - pad thai with a spider roll?!? Heck yeah!! Wash it down with a Singha and then a Sapporo... Prices are reasonable and the staff is great - seems like the customers they attract are cool too. If you've had great Thai food in the LBC, chances are you've already eaten here. If you're new to the area, this should be one of your first stops...

I hooked up with a group that has been dining together every Wednesday at Bai Plu Authentic Thai and Aki Sushi since it opened some 9 years ago. So, I'm biased. Everything that follows is not to be trusted until verified by your own experience. The sushi bar is staffed by Sato - Japan, Raphael - Mexico and lead chef is Sam - Thailand. They create a lively presentation in food and person. Sam speciallizes in making-up rolls on the fly, and Sato cuts fish in the finest Japanese Tradition. But wait, there's more, The Thai food is terrific too. Come join us at the Sushi bar near the kitchen after 7:00 PM on Wednesdays. The owner won't stop serving until we finish eating and the doors don't close till we leave. Guaranteed to have fun and make new friends.

This is not my favorite Thai restaurant of all time, but there are dishes I LOVE here. My friends that LOVE sushi rave about it being the best sushi they've ever had.... They also love drinking & Aki Sushi Bai Plu sells lots of drinks -- beer & sake -- that my friends enjoy, too. What I love to eat here is the Thai beef salad that most Thai restaurants make; here it's called "Crying Tiger Salad" and it does make my eyes water. It's extra spicy & tangy here. You get to mix your own sauce & the ground white pepper floats on the surface until you blend it in with the lime, black pepper, chile, salt, and red onions. Mostly what I love to eat here is the Kua Noodles. Chinese food in Long Beach frankly SUCKS! Thank god that most Thai restaurants in the US are Thai style Chinese cuisine with some authentic Thai dishes. The Kua Noodle dish at Aki Sushi Bai-Plu is basically the Cantonese chow ho fun (flat, wide rice noodles stir fried with slivers of meat, vegetables, & savory sauces). The rest of the food I've had here is not bad, but I only rave about something when I REALLY like it. Oh, and I forgot: there's a cute sushi chef there that also sometimes delivers food. Nice bone structure; good haircut, good skin. There's also a little drama because another restaurant in Long Beach opened up called Aki Sushi and it has nothing to do with Aki Sushi Bai-Plu except that somehow the City of Long Beach bureaucracy let two completely unrelated restaurants share the same name. Unfortunately, they're both on the same street, though separated by 1.5 miles.

This little shack was something you definitely had to hear about. The picture menu was absolutely mouth watering. Enjoyed my rice dish and sushi so much that I had to go back for lunch to get their soup bowls. Their service was fast and friendly. We were shocked how quick our sushi and entree came out. This is definitely a must eat and eat some more.

This review is for Baiplu's catering service which I think is excellent! We had a party at work, with about 80 people, and we still have not made any arrangements for catering two days before the event. A colleague recommended Baiplu, so I called them up and talked to Paula. She was able to meet our order and had them delivered on time for the party. And the food was delicious! Everybody was happy!

My review is on their Thai food. I LOVE their Thai dishes! I have tried different curries and have not been disappointed by any that were picked. The crispy basil pork is AWESOME! Super crispy pieces of pork fat and meat tossed in a spicy basil sauce. Chicken Larb is super good and I don't think the very spicy is too spicy but my Japanese buddy begs to differ. Pad See Ew is a winner, it's not too sweet, it's just right. The fried rice dishes are also good, I have had shrimp and chicken and there is always plenty of meat in the dishes. The most impressive thing about BaiPlu is that it's CLEAN! How many times have you gone to a Thai restaurant and they have fruit flies, dirty utensils, sticky tables, etc... Each time, BaiPlu has been clean and the food never disappoints me.

This Thai place is awesome! The food is great and the prices are pretty cheap. They have 2 sides: a sushi bar area and regular seating area. The restaurant itself is fairly small, and the are it's in isn't that great, but don't let that put you off. They have 2 menus as well: a Japanese (sushi) menu, and a Thai menu. 95% of the items are under $10 (including many seafood items!). They also have a lunch special for $5.95 which includes an entree, two pieces of fried wontons, steamed or fried rice, and a soup or salad. That's a deal!

Thai food and Sushi in the same spot and in the neighborhood. Cool. I like experimenting with sushi but all I know about Thai food is that I don't like peanut sauce. I met up with some more beautiful Yelpers here and though I travel 7th street often, I drive right past this place on the way to the most ghetto Big Lots on the planet. But that's another review. Once seated, we looked over the two menus and ordered so that we could try different foods. I'm a chicken girl, so my main dish was the spicy chicken and rice. It was good. The sushi was good as well. My favorite...the Asahi beer. Thanks for hooking me up, Hana K...though the folks who claim to be 'La cerveza mas fina" will be pissed that their market numbers have gone down due to my recent conversion. Like Hana, I found the service a bit slow. But all of the food was good. It is close to me and a new place to get my 'Sushi Tuesday" on. And you KNOW...in the back of my mind I know that I have to get home soon. When we were finished, I asked for the check....3 times. Count 'em...THREE! Finally I spot the waitress mindlessly arranging dishes. WTF? I tried to make contact. A kitchen worker saw me staring at her and motioned to her that I seemed to need something. When she came over I asked: "Is there a problem with our check?" Silence from the other Yelpers. Up close and personal Cidne in action!! They got to see some of the Alpha ooze out of me. But, I didn't have to leave my "ghetto" at home this time....I was still in the hood! The check was in Thai. Yep...time for this one to go home before I start getting upset. I have a puppy who needs to pee. As a responsible dog owner with mad love for my bitch, I can no longer compromise Daisy's bladder for the sake of my social life. Daisy doesn't fuss when I'm gone, but I hate holding my pee, so I know she does too!

Parking is a big minus for me here. It has a teeny tiny driveway and a teeny tiny lot that holds like 10 cars, probably less. I found that the neighboring apartment uses it as well. Service is pretty good. I've eaten here twice and both times they were attentive. I had delivery once which took FOREVER. The quality of the fish isn't that great. The unagi was fishy and had bones. I like mine to melt in my mouth. So no stars for freshness. I really do like the Dynamite because it's dy-na-mite! Yeah! Corny, huh? I liked their Thai beef jerky too. Really on point with that one. In the future, if I can talk myself into driving here and actually finding parking, I would rather not order off the sushi menu and stick to the Thai menu. Again, I seem to have chosen another establishment that has some relation to both Thai and Japanese. Just my luck. Maybe that's the reason why I am not satisfied at these places. Poor execution.

In the last few years I've become a major fan of Thai food... and so far, i have yet to find a better place in LB. Try the spicy soups. EDIT: I've now tried the sushi, and was pleasantly surprised. Fresh wasabi on deck, and talented sushi chefs.

I think the place is great. I've only eaten from the Thai side of the menu, but the food has always been very good. Very pleasant service as well. One of my favorites in Long Beach.

Pretty decent thai food that should satisfy your thai food craving. I will definitely return for some chili mint chicken, by far my favorite dish of this outing, though I'd prefer to just get the entree as opposed to the special to get a larger portion entree. The soup that comes with the lunch special has enough flavor to quench your soup cravings, it's not the best soup I have ever ordered, but it's fine.....the red curry was a disappointment for me though I can't say I am a thai curry expert by any means, as was the spiciness of their fresh thai chilies which were mexican chilies is my guess, cause they added very little spiciness to the dishes, but whatever, at least Robin was able to enjoy all the food that much more without me imposing my thai hot standards upon her-haha.. pretty vast menu, so I have a lot more to try when I return.

I am between 3 and 4 stars for this place. It was very hard to pick. Very good and fresh food. Waitress are ok but can be a bit nicer (I find one waitress a bit rude) Very clean place Cheap place Nice menu I feel like the sushi place should be another restaurant (you have 2 restaurants, you pick either Japan or Thai when you enter) The inside remind me fast food and not Thai food. I will go back or ask for delivery. I recommend!!!

Update 11/27/07: I highly recommend their tofu with chili and mint leaves, crab fried rice, and "spicy noodles" (no fancy name...it's listed on the menu as "spicy noodle"). + + + + + Thai and sushi at the same place...strange concept but it works. I'm going to review the Thai part, because I LOVED their thai food.Today we had a casual eat-and-greet with some of the LBC Yelpers: Cidne, Rodger R, Linda N, Claire D, and Mike L. I suggested this spot after reading about it on Yelp. Rodger R gave this place his seal of approval, so the pressure wasn't all on me. The restaurant is a lot smaller than it appears on their website. Parking lot is LB-style tiny, so you'll have better luck on the street. You can sit at the sushi bar, sit at the thai side, or sit wherever and order from both menus. We tried a little bit of everything: fried tofu in spicy sauce, pad see ew (flat noodles), chicken fried rice, and panang curry. The curry was my favorite part of the meal. I could have smothered my whole plate with the curry. I'm already jonesing for more. I'll be back to sample the other Thai dishes. I thought the prices are very reasonable. Service is a little slow. Thank goodness that Cidne didn't have to shank anyone.

For a combination food-style restaurant with delivery... very good! I have eaten in the restaurant and had the delivery several times, very good and a good value. The staff is friendly and was patient enough to explain the food items I didn't comprehend. The food was very good and delivered in a timely manner. I'm no sushi expert but I say Good job!

At least I can say I've tried it. I liked how they do the Japanese/Thai fusion thing, but they are WAY WAY OVER PRICED for what its worth. If you order anything to-go they gyp you on portions. Like I said, I've tried it once. Actually its like a once a year joint for me.

I was very suprised with this place. I gave it 3 stars because there are no half stars and I dont consider this a 4 star kind of place. Anyway the fried rice with duck meat was great. I will go back just for that goodness. The sushi was surprisingly good, although I thought the prices were a tad bit high. Service was awesome so I will definitely go back.

When I stopped in for lunch I didn't realize it was both a sushi and Thai restaurant. It's the first time I'd been here and was abit overwhelmed by all 5 menu's...yes, 5. 4 were Thai and there were 2 with pictures. The 5th menu was for sushi, which is what I had gone in for. I ordered the Long Beach roll and Aki roll. Both were good although it took 1/2 hr for my rolls to come out - even though they open at 10 and I went in at 11, the sushi chefs were still setting up their area. Most of the people in there were ordering from the Thai menu. The sushi side was kind of expensive - $11-14... so for those 2 rolls my lunch bill came to $30. I think I'd like to return and try the Thai food next time. Everything looked well priced ($8-12 range) and came out of the kitchen quickly.

This is the first sushi place I've had the opportunity to go to in Long Beach. I have a big anti-pan-asian streak in me; if you can do one cuisine well, why do more than one? So I was pleasantly surprised by the big maki rolls, which servers brought out as soon as they're ready. Which is the way it should be. Why do some restaurants let the poor rolls languish for minutes before serving? The sushi itself was perfect, made from excellent cuts of fresh fish. The salmon skin salad was spicy and smelly. My wife thought it was abominable and tasted like a rotting whale carcass. I happen to enjoy the odd whale carcass tho. Plus this salad is supposed to be uber-fishy. Only downside in my opinion was the green tea ice cream was too perfumery for my taste. Not at all green tea-ish, more like somebody laced it with detergent. My wife said it was just alright, but until she gets her own yelp.com account, I'm the only online opinion you need. Hear me roar (type?) Plus I think she was bitter over the whole my-husband-made-me-taste-something-whale-carcassy factor.

It was tough for me to rate this place. I've been here twice now. Both times, 30 mins before closing. The pad Thai was good, and both curry dishes I've tried so far, were tasty and fresh as well. The thing that really gave this place such a high rank was the speedy service. The first time I came, we ordered 3 dishes, and one sushi roll. Our food literally came within 5 minutes. The second time I came here, it was way more crowded, but still had our food brought over immediately...The prices are average. The portions are BIG. Perhaps it was already prepared? Either way, it tasted fresh and steamy, so no complaints. I was going to give it 3 stars originally. The second time I came we ordered a spicy tuna roll.....too much tuna, barely any cucumber. But then I realized that Im not reviewing AKI, Im reviewing Baiplu. So I upped the score. I still prefer YOUR HOUSE, for the Thai food, but this place is closer, and they deserve recognition for giving a starving girl her food pronto.

    (4)
  • Vikky D.

Oh, Baiplu. You have disappointed me. You used to be so tasty and so cheap. While you do remain pretty delicious, you are no longer so cheap nor so plentiful. Your prices have increased but your portions have gotten smaller. I am truly confused. Is it the economy? I understand the cost of your ingredients might have gotten more expensive lately. I am, however, glad that your fried rice (all of the different varieties) continue to rock. I also remain a true fan of your spicy beef salad.

Remember the old Reese's Peanut Butter cup commercials? Two great tastes that taste great together. The sushi is not the best, but it is decent. Since my husband hates sushi but loves Thai food, we often compromise on Bai Plu. He would recommend the Kua noodle or Pad See Ew. The menus for both the sushi and Thai sides of the restaurant have almost anything you could ask for and the food is uniformly good. The wait staff is incredibly courteous and attentive. We have also ordered takeout several times. They always say it will take 40 minutes and it always takes 15... The only down side is the location, but now they are open on Bellflower, which means you are 75% less likely to see someone selling crack across the street while you are eating.

3.5 Stars I came here mainly for the Sushi (although I had sushi the night before "I just can't get enough"). Pretty crowded for Saturday night and parking is a mother! ORDERED: -Baked Lobster Roll (tasted like honey walnut shrimp, very creamy and rich, - overload!) -Benito Eggplant (warm baked sliver of egg plant that melted in your mouth topped with fish flakes) -Fried Soft Shell Crab (it's fried, can't mess that up) -Las Vegas Roll (deep fried creamy goodness. I like philly rolls but the las vegas roll is good for people who like deep fried creaminess) -Spicy Tuna Roll (not bad) -Sweet Shrimp, Eel, Smelt Eggs, Salmon Nigiri Sushi (Sweet Shrimp didn't taste as fresh as I hoped for. Salmon wasn't slimy (which was a surprise), Eel tasted a little bitter and overdone for me). -Spicy Scallop Roll (A fave of mine, actually pretty spicy, I liked) -Raw Oysters on the Halfshell (Uh, NO. It's decent if you're into ponzu sauce and all that but as an oyster, that shit was pretty gross..but don't mind me...I sell Oysters for a living =P). -Salmon Skin Roll (crisp) -(Thai menu) - Small bowl of Chicken & Straw mushroom soup (the chicken was dry and brittle, that really turned me off from wanting to order more Thai food). With orders of Thai Teas, Edamame, Miso Soups and a Papaya salad to go ~ $130 (with tax). Overall, I think the food was good. The rolls aren't super big like other places which is good I guess because you can order more. I think the leg up about this place is that it does provide both Thai and Sushi. I saw a lot of large parties for birthdays and such. Service is impeccable however do expect some of your servers to be annoyed if you ask too many questions. (It wasn't me!). I wouldn't drive out here for Sushi, but I would drive out here if I wanted to take some friends out who have a wide variety of palettes (and if they like sushi rolls over nigiri).

Update: After reading the other reviews, I realize that my wonderful experience with Bai Plu comes from two things: 1) I usually get delivery (no hassels with the waiters) 2) I usually get noodle dishes (which other people here agree are excellent). I love Bai Plu! I love Thai food, and this place is so far the best I've found in Long Beach. I recommend the pad see-ew. A story that shows why I like this place: I found their number online and called to place an order, without ever seeing their menu. I ordered my usual--pad kee mao. There was a bit of confusion, but they made it, and when it came it was great. So I ordered it several more times. Only when I looked at the menu did I realize that this item wasn't on it, and they made it specially for me! I've never tried the sushi from the attached Aki sushi place. UPDATE: After trying a few other Thai restaurants in Long Beach (and meeting with nothing but disappointment), I am ready to declare Bai Plu the best one in town.

Based on the reviews here, we decided to give Aki's a whirl. The husband had already tried their sushi, via delivery - but this was the first time for restaurant chowing. We tried quite a variety of the specialty rolls, but we were drooling over the Las Vegas Roll, as well as the Sunset Roll and a Soft Shell Crab roll (forget the name). Yummmmmmmy! I could not get our waitress to laugh, and that became some sort of evil challenge for me, I finally got her to crack up slightly over something ridiculous and I was finally content. We will definitely go back and I have to say it might just be to sit at the sushi bar and order Las Vegas roll after Las Vegas roll, it was that flippin' good. It's tuna, salmon, red snapper, avocado and cream cheese, fried tempura style with two yummy sauces. Dinner for 4 with beers plus 1 small sake (1 person was a vegetarian, and didn't eat as much as the other 3 though) $112. Keep in mind we ordered many of the more expensive fancy-shmancy rolls too, so I think that was a great deal. I would like to try the Thai side of the restaurant, but I just know that once inside, I would want the sushi because I looove it and so who knows if that'll ever happen. Try the darn Vegas roll!! PS, one frightening moment is when they suddenly blared a "happy birthday song" over the speakers that was hugely reminiscent of Chuckie Cheese! The hot sake made me giggly, but that put an end to it. Acccccck! I'm in Chuckie Sushi's house!

What happened to this place? It used to be pretty good, service and food but in the past year or so it has become awful. The service is crappy and the food is terrible, last time we ate there my husband got food poisoning and was violently ill all day. No thanks, I'll go to Sushi Studio.

Is this sushi? Is this thai food? Is this frozen food? I don't know, either way, i won't dignify it with much of a response other than to say it is garbage. I won't give it one star because I am saving that for a special place. This deserves an honest to goodness two stars because I didn't see any roaches crawling across the floor.

I do not get it, this place is not good. I tried this place on three separate occasions (delivery) hoping to be swayed on the second/third go round. Not happening. My order was delivered wrong on two occasions, the chicken tasted odd, sushi and rolls were just okay and nothing overly impressive to push past two stars.

Inviting exterior lit up with Christmas lights. Modest interior. A little to brightly lit. Excellent sushi. The chef is from Japan and he can barley speak English. But he is really friendly. This place gets busy....

OK. i admit it, when a friend 1st took me here for sushi a few years back i was skeptical because it was not Japanese, but Thai. First off i love both cultures & their food but to my ignorance i did not know such EXCELLENT SUSHI could be found at a Thai restaurant. They have a sushi happy hour every weekday only $6. per roll! Unlike most places that serve ton's of rice and skimpy fish portions when offering a happy hour or deal on sushi the chef's here make FABULOUS DELICIOUS rolls every time without fail. In the past i have found that at other sushi bars i had to sit at the bar in order to get a good roll because u can watch the chef, I have sat at a table far away from the bar at happy hour and have consistently received beautiful, delicious, creatively crafted sushi rolls. I have eaten at Baiplu many times throughout the past 3 years and have NEVER had a bad experience. The staff is friendly, polite & courteous. And even patient with my grouchy 18 month old boy. Such a good vibe in this elegantly decorated restaurant. I believe that food created with such a vibe can only be healthy in all aspects.

Man, this is the best place to go when you are sick with a cold or shit like that. I have this cold I cannot get rid of, so I thought a nice steaming bowl of red chicken curry would help open up these clogged nasal passages of mine. I am a whitey, so I always ask for the mildest, and that is spicy enough for my cracker ass! So my sister, being the sweet loving sister she is, decided to be nice and stop and get me some on Friday night on her way home from work. It was still really warm when she got home, and I started scarfing...and then noticed, shit, I cannot taste it! Yeah, I am now experiencing the absolute worst part of a lingering cold. I have not been able to taste anything for like 3 days, and it's killing me! I love savoring the taste of different foods, so it is really strange to have something in your mouth and not be able to distinguish what exactly it is. Chips taste like drywall, salsa tastes like a vinegary chunky substance, even my curry tasted like....ummmm hot spicy milk? DAMMIT!!!! I tried to get drunk on Saturday, but even my LI ice tea had no taste...I want to die! But, this is no fault of Bai Plu, so I will keep on loving you, cause it's the only thing I wanna do! I don't wanna sleep, I just wanna keep on loving you. Oh yeah, and the curry is pretty much the only thing I have ever eaten here, and it's so damn good I can't get anything else now!

I was a bit hestitant at first about this place cause I thought it was weird they did thai and sushi together but it's actually split into two sections and the food is pretty goood! if you go between 3-5 it's happy hour so half off on sushi and some good deals on the beer and sake. personally, the happy hour stuff is just mediocre. salmon sushi was uber fishy, and the roll was supposed to have shrimp tempura in it but all i tasted was massive batter minus the shrimp. i am the biggest spicy tuna fan and i actually really enjoyed their spicy tuna... yum. their bentos are pretty darn nifty as well, although i think a little on the pricey side. their chicken fried rice, and pineapple fried rice were also very gooood. if you life spicy food just ast for the mild cause that shit is spiiiicy! all in all, this place is pretty great. it doesn't help my wallet any that i live literally 2 minutes from this place, but really, it's yum (:

This place fills a serious need for the sushi set here, because Long Beach is badly lacking in sushi restaurants, especially ones that are actually authentic. I spent most of my formative sushi years in LA and the Valley, which are rich with good sushi. Long Beach, on the other hand, has only a few sushi places, and frankly, none of them have an ounce of authenticity except for Aki, regardless of how expensive they are. Now, you're going to have to be okay with the fact that the other half of the building is Bai Plu Thai Restaurant and the smells of the Thai food occassionally overpower the sushi in front of you; also you should be ready for a pretty challenging arrival and departure in their tightly packed parking lot, which requires some unflinching maneuvering to survive 7th St. It's worth it. The sushi is reasonably priced, the place is not pretentious, and the clientele is correspondingly relaxed. The stroller set and the BMW clique both seem to avoid Aki, at least in my experience. The sushi is good.

So it's bright and the parking sucks. Be like me and order for pick up. I call it in while I'm on the way, and it's ready to go when I get there. Everything I've tried is pretty damn good, but my favorite is the Pork Namtok medium spicy, and the Tom Kha Kai with shrimp. Last time, I ate everything even though I was already too full and hurting. I couldn't even sleep that night. I kept rolling over and over...but I had a smile on my face. Haha...I'm jonesing for Namtok right now.

Absolutely delicious food and FAST. I mean FAST. When I order my food, it's all served in its entirety within 10 minutes. And the miso soup is served literally instantly! When I get the food delivered..it's always there within 25-35 minutes even though they say 45-1hour. The customer service is great, they're always helping each other out. Best vegetarian item- Tofu Special (HOT tofu covered in a sweet and spicy sauce, throw em over a little bit of rice and you're set!) Thank you for being awesome, Aki.

This is the best Thai food in Long Beach period, even better than most places in Thai Town.... within the past 3 years, i have introduced all my friends to this place and they all order from here now...im not kidding is that good. My favorite dish is pinapple fried rice, oh man, i have to order it every time i get food from here.... Service? cant get any better...

I've been to this place a few times over the years. The sushi is fine. Nothing too memorable, though. What was memorable, however, was the owner. Nice lady but when a customer comes to your establishment with a certificate they purchased (from restaurant.com ), the customer should not be grilled over hot coals. I gave the certificate to our server, nice guy, butI had a feeling that wasn't the last time I'd see that piece of paper. When all was said and done, the owner came to me, certificate in hand and asked when I purchased it. "Um, today." Her response: "Well, we canceled our contract with r.com a few months ago but they are still selling certificates..." Me: "Um..well, I have no control over that and would have no way of knowing the business aspect of these types of contracts." She lingered for a while, then the waiter got involved, and in the end, they did honor the certificate but I mean, come on. All she had to do was say "We're no longer honoring these certificates, just so you know. I am going to place a notice on the door to inform all customers." Would have been beautiful, a nice way to end my leisurely lunch, and saved me the time of having to explain that I was not in cahoots with this online vendor.

I went with a big group of people, one of whom was born in Thailand and knows the food very well. He ordered for everyone, so I can't name the dishes by name. But each was very good, even the garlic-preserved egg, a Thai specialty and his favorite dish. Also, the more common dishes were apart from what you would normal get. The tom kha (sp?) was very flavorful, and so was the sticky mango rice. The service was good, so overall, it made for a very good experience.

Their fish (or shrimp?) cake, and beef jerky are what I crave here. Their other dishes are good too, like the tom yum soups and whole fish dishes. They have a good variety, not to mention the sushi bar which has a separate menu for that.

Bai Plu is a great restaurant no doubt. The service staff are very friendly. They are very tentative to you and this by far is the closest thing to thai town food in long beach. I have yet to try their sushi side of the restaurant.

At first, I gave this restaurant one star because I was pretty mad. Then, I thought I would give them a 2 1/2, but I decided to leave it as one star in case anyone from their restaurant decides to read any of their low-scoring reviews in search of constructive criticism. Bottom line, this restaurant makes me feel like I have to settle for less. It's happened twice, and that's it for me. Read on for the whole story. Variety is the spice of life, especially at mealtime, and Japanese and Thai combine well. The Baiplu Thai menu suits my vegetarian husband well, while I can freely order from either the Baiplu Thai or Aki Sushi menu, or both. We've frequented the restaurant dozens of times, particularly since the restaurant is conveniently walking distance from our home and because the food had always been decent. The food's pretty good, but not in the best proportions for the prices. They bring a dessert with karaoke "happy birthday" playing on their gigantic flat screen TV, but they don't sing, but that's fine. The place is clean, neat, and cozy...it's got great feng shui. I often give the benefit of the doubt and it takes a few times for me to learn my lesson. The first time they upset me, I kept my mouth shut. It happened on one cold night when I asked the woman server if the hot noodle soups MSG or not. "No. Well, yes, maybe." was her response. Then she just stood there. When I asked if she could confirm that for me, she told me that it wasn't in her place to ask that kind of question. Since I didn't really understand why she would respond so strangely, I rephrased my question, to which she hesitantly repeated her answer. With my sensitivity to MSG, I decided it wasn't worth paying to eat food that might make me sick, so I settled on something else. Alas, my heart was set on enjoying a bowl hot noodle soup as advertised in their colorful picture menu! The last time I went there, I decided to try their rendition of sushi. This is just two weeks after we'd returned from our Japan trip, so I went in with a very forgiving attitude about the quality and flavor because I knew I wasn't being served by a Japanese sushi chef, and I'd heard that Aki had long since left the restaurant. I ordered a crab and tuna roll with fish eggs on top, priced at around $10. It looked great in the photo menu. When it came, it looked different. It didn't taste or feel like crab in my mouth. It was imitation crab salad, and with very little tuna. The menu didn't say "crab," crab salad, imitation crab, nor Krab, as it's sometimes called. Why did they deceive me? I figured it was a cultural or language barrier. Despite the huge difference between the flavors, textures, and seasonings of crab and imitation crab salad, I once again sucked it up and just ate it. When I politely and discreetly explained later that the menu's description and picture didn't match the actual item and that it really was not what I expected, their faces looked like they were trying to avoid getting slapped. After a few different people came to my table to hear my story, they finally mustered the courage to rouse the manager from her lair. She immediately came over, loudly and confidently apologized, and offered me some ice cream dessert on the house. The mayonnaise from the crab salad curdled in my stomach as I replied, "No, thanks." I didn't want more food. I just wanted to know that other crab lovers wouldn't get a bum deal like I did. I wanted my local restaurant to have a menu I could trust in. I tried cluing her in to how it someone else might want to order the same item thinking that it would be real crab, and be disappointed in getting crab salad like I did. I thought I was doing them a favor, but I guess I really wasn't. After getting an earful about the rising costs of food, then getting a further reprimand in which she told me that "next time I should ask for her right away because the food servers don't know what to say" (she can't just train them to tell the customers to wait while they get the manager? Oh, no, I think it's just that they're probably too scared to bother her. I'm catching on here; it's probably a hierarchical thing, and that's why that woman server was afraid to ask the male chef if there was any MSG in the noodle soup), I managed to thank her politely for the 10% discount she subtracted from my "crab" and tuna roll, and left the restaurant for good.

First time I went to this place, I was impressed. Then after subsequent trips, it's OK. The Thai food I've gotten here is better than the sushi. The sushi chefs are pretty cool. You get an interesting type of crowd here. Definitely low key, long beach type of crew. It's not terribly high class, no doubt. The service is pretty good and wait staff seem like nice people. Last time I was here, the sushi was just OK. I kept on ordering more hoping it would get better......but it didn't. I will probably go back and try some more Thai food. Parking is a little tricky here. Stick to the street and avoid the parking lot.

So I get a flyer for a new delivery place. And they aren't expensive and have yummy things. The food came so fast they must have known what I was going to order before I called!!! Okay, so I haven't tried the authentic stuff. But what I did order was so good. I might actually try the Thai food, if I can ever let go of the wings of angel. They are from heaven! :)

I ordered this delivery at my friends house. I'll only review my meal. Based on reading other reviews it looks like I made a mistake by having the Japanese food. I got so exited because their online menu has a ton of pictures of great looking food. I ordered a lunch special. L3. Teriyaki salmon w shrimp and veggie tempura, side of rice, miso soup and green salad. The salmon was greasy. There was one shrimp in my tempura. I couldn't even stomach the smell of the miso soup. Not as bad as Yoshinoya beef bowl... but not light and fresh, either. I wanted to order a separate green salad based on the picture but I didn't have to since one was included with the lunch special... minus over half the ingredients. Iceberg lettuce with shredded carrots on top of it is not a salad. I love that the restaurant only had a $10 delivery (in case I ever wanted to order just for myself) except they raised it to $15 without updating their menu. The only thing I finished was my strawberry mochi ice cream which I had never had before. It tasted very chemically, not the clean pure taste I was expecting. And my total was $3 more than what they told me over the phone. Why? I try to break my fast food eating, living-out-of-7/11 ways with some fresh healthy food. Japanese food has always been my go-to for clean quality food. Food that makes you appreciate the simple perfection of small portions in their pure form. This is not that.

I'm not so sure about the sushi at Bai Plu (let's leave that to the Japanese) but hear me when I tell you this! Bai Plu is, without hesitation, one of the best Thai restaurants in the greater LA area. I have been consistently impressed with the food... authentic, fresh, flavorful, interesting and DELICIOUS! The staff are friendly and helpful, the seafood is spectacular (try the steamed pampano in spicy ginger sauce), and they have freakishly fast delivery. Every time we order food for delivery they say that it will be about 45 minutes. They're always there within 15 or 20 minutes. It's berzerker. My boyfriend and I joke that they have a full-time psychic on staff who knows before-hand, what you want to eat. In any case, they're awesome. And please... 7th street is not scary. It's time to leave the suburban nest and go eat some really phenomenal Thai food.

the food was solid, but the best part was when Happy Birthday was played over the speakers like 5x in a row and the staff was all clapping the whole time. I really enjoyed the staff I interacted with. panang curry, kung pao, and sweet & sour were all pretty good. a good experience overall.

This place has HORRIBLE service! I placed an order for delivery, i ordered a roll just as is,only in soy paper. our order arrives and my roll has added cream cheese (ill eat anything in a sushi restaraunt except cream cheese in my roll!) so I call calmly and speak with the woman who answers and told her my situation, she tells me she will have him call me back. He calls me back and SCREAMS AT ME for 4 straight minutes. i asked if he could bring me back the correct roll, or credit me, or if i can come get my money back, he went balistic!!! ive been a loyal customer for 2 years now, and after that service id neer go back nor recommend anyone to go to this HORRIBLE ESTABLISHMENT!! Wasabis in downtown is better :) or try SUSHI ON FIRE on main st in HUNTINGRON BEACH!! the service is stellar the foodsamazing and they give out free sake all night long!!

I know It's not much of a looker from the outside, and it's okay in the inside, but it's not about the look of the place, it's the food that brings everyone here. Let me start off by saying I love the SALMON bake roll here. It is delicious, I would take off the dried squid that they place at the top of the roll, if I were you. Not a really good Combo on that one. Then again you might like it like that, so who am I to say. As for the Thai dishes, the beef jerky with the pah Deth? sauce is yummy! what a great pair! It's some kind of fish sauce that's tangy and rich in flavor. The beef jerky is not hard and stiff as it normally is. Instead it's pretty moist and not too flavored, which is great, because that's what the sauce is for. The pad Se Ew with chicken or beef is yummy as well. You can taste the char from the stir fry. The flavor of soy sauce and basil compliments this dish well. I'd have to say one of the best pad se ew I had. The spicy fried rice is actually spicy. Get it mild, or you will DIE! haha Seriously, it's a bit dry, but not as bad as other places that serves spicy fried rice. The chicken in the fried rice helps soothes the burning sensation in your mouth. Most of their soups are pretty good, the stir fry garlic chicken is okay. Tons of garlic, but lack of flavor. There was a fish dish with black pepper that was just so good. You can taste the butter that they use to stir fry this puppy. Yum! you can't go wrong with it. The honey duck is good as well. You can taste the glaze on the duck. It's crispy and flavored with Chinese five spices. Very well done, the only bad thing I can say is that they have raised their prices. The prices of dishes used to be 7-8 dollars dishes, now it's 11-15. Yeah, pretty pricey. I'm guessing because they are an expanding business. You really can't hate on them about that. Good food and great service. It gets pretty entertaining when there is a birthday. They totally embarrass you with a funky birthday song. haha Have fun guys.

Damn we're trying to come here less because they have such good memories. Not much to say: strangely attentive servers, distinct Thai dishes and sidekicking sushi bar. Two of my favorite cuisines.

I just finished having lunch here and I must say this place is pretty damn good. Some people from work invited me to Thai and me loving Thai Food I just had to say of course. However, when I walked in and saw a Sushi bar to my left, I thought to myself, "This is no ordinary Thai place". We quickly ordered some Pad Thai, some Spicy Noodles with Beef, Tom Yoong Gong, Spicy Beef Salad and some Sushi Rolls. Everything was good and consistent. I didn't think they would be able to pull off both Sushi and Thai of the same caliber but I was wrong. The Extra Spicy Tuna roll was very well done....the noodles were great. The salad had a very nicet spicy citrus taste. All in all it was a great meal and this is place I would return to again.

Don't let the dual restaurant concept fool you. Bai Plu/Aki Sushi does Thai food AND sushi well. They're almost separate entities so the chefs aren't trying to make pad thai with one hand and unagi sushi with the other. I don't know the exact history, but the sushi side of the restaurant is ran and owned by an experience sushi chef who worked at a famous sushi restaurant elsewhere. The Thai side of the restaurant is, well...just pretty darn good. Bai Plu has come through for me on so many occasions. I've taken many friends and family members here and everyone leaves home happy. I'm not going to try to write some funny story, nor am I going to write some New Yorker-style anecdote that tries to relate the decline of Western Civilization with the taste of their bean curd with chili and mint leaves. I mean, I'm sure someone can pull that off...just not me. So on to the food: Chicken Panang: The all star of the restaurant in my opinion. All of my friends agree. After having it for the first time, my good friend, Mrs. N. proclaimed ", This is the taste I look for when I want Thai food." Mrs. N. is now an addict that frequents Bai Plu often. Kua Noodle: A spicy wide noodle that is a robust alternative to...*yawn*, everyone's go to dish, pad thai. I get this all the time and it rocks my socks off. So yeah, basically, everything is good to great. The dcor isn't the greatest but it will be the last thing on your mind when your eating your meal. Someone said there aren't any good Thai restaurants in Long Beach. I disagree, and so do many of the Thai patrons that frequent this restaurant. The LOWDOWN Minus a fourth a star for the lack of adequate parking. It actually has its own lot, but its so popular that the lot fills up quickly. Minus a fourth of a star for sharing itself with a sushi restaurant. This gives it "cred" problems with the foodies. They just need to get over it...and "recognize" good food in any form. Minus a fourth of a star for being in the 'hood. I don't have a problem with that but I know of a few people that are scared to come here. Minus a fourth of a star for the decor. Its not a dive by any means but it could be swankier if they wanted it to be. (please note the 1/4 star...it doesn't bother me at all.) Plus 2 stars for the food. I come here for lunch often, and occasionally dinner. As I said before, the panang is what dreams are made of. Plus 2 stars for being in the LBC. Its close enough to my work and my home. You can't beat that with a bat. Stronge!

Large variety of Thai dishes that aren't typically on the menu of other Thai restaurants. Pictures of the dishes on the menu will help in decision making. I find the food to have more heat than at other Thai restaurants- even medium spicy will leave you sweaty and with a runny nose by the end of the meal. Prompt, friendly service, and they're always quick to fill up your water glass. Have not tried the Japanese food.

Ordered sushi - $65 and not really worth it. Quantity was fine, but rolls were not that impressive. I've had fresher at King's, yummier at Octopus and cheaper at Mitaki. Thai menu looked amazing though so i think I will try that instead.

the thai food is great maybe even 4 1/2 stars and i've eaten at a LOT of thai places around socal and norcal. probably my favorite. favorite dishes are the red and green curries. i went on separate occasions to try the sushi side of the dual restaurant (2 stars unfortunately) but i was not impressed. none of them were memorable. regular price for rolls is typical, sometimes even high, and the quality just isn't there. if you have to try the rolls, they have a good happy hour promotion something like 4 rolls off the menu that are only $5 for a few hours.. im not sure i would get the rolls even at that price. on a (+) side the rolls look nice

was still craving sushi after that nightmare experience at i luv sushi saturday night. decided to go to a place i forgot about and thanks for the reminder friend, u kno who u are. we hit up Baiplu thai and aki sushi bar in long beach. went to the one on 7th street just east of walnut. area is not that great but so what. the place is spacious and clean and the staff is very nice. started off with the fried calmari cause the boyz love calmari. it was just o.k but the boyz loved it served with a side of sweet and sour sauce. ordered the spider roll for the wife, her fav and crunchy shrimp roll for me. if u order 2 specialty rollz u get a free appitzer on tue. nights. good deal. also had the five piece sashimi. fish was fresh...very good, as well as the rolls we ordered. not to much rice on the outside and the crabmeat was real. unlike that imitation crap @ i luv sushi. after, we ordered mix veggie stir fry and bbq pork fried rice. both were excellent. plenty of bbq pork throughout with egg, onion and tomato on the side. nice! mix veggies tossed with oyster suace and garlic sauce were full of flavor. so sorry i forgot about u baiplu.

1 star for trying. minus four stars for the worst nabeyaki udon and eggplant appetizer I've ever had. I knew I shouldn't have gone here since I was craving a noodle soup. Broth was way off like 4 spoonfuls of extra soy sauce and sugar in the broth. Eggplant app was swimming in about 1 inch of a light soy sauce mixture. gross. Nabeyaki udon looked like some Thai chinese grandma chopped up all the ingredients like she was making beef ball soup. Never again. Don't like Thai sushi anyway. Good quick service here though. Maybe should stick to Thai? people?

three stars for the food ...never disappointed no matter what i order.but one star for my service last night. usually we get friendly attentive service.i dont know what was going on with our server.....no greeting, no smile, no personality.she made me feel like an inconvience when i asked for more water as if i was asking the impossible.she spent 5 min explaining that they didnt have a house wine and we needed to chose one. but then returned with the "house wine" which we didnt even order! my tall hot sake was luke warm...but piping hot compared to the personality of the waitress!i was afraid to send it back.all our rolls came at once.we didnt see her again untill after our food was gone.she quickly stacked our plates and stood there till the last soy bean was taken scooped up that plate and didnt even ask if we needed anything else...dessert? more wine? water? the check?it seemed like we were rushed out, heaven forbid we sit and talk to one another!ive never seen this lady before and hope to never.see her again.of course ill go there again, but not anytime soon!

Takes some crazy driving skills to maneuver around their itty bitty parking lot but once you do, you're in for some good Thai food! Half of the restaurant is a sushi bar and the other half is Thai food. I haven't tried the sushi, but I did try the pad thai, of course, and remember it adequately meeting my yummy standards, but not so out of this world that I feel the need to make a special trip and fight for parking in what appears to be in a ghetto part of town.

I would recommend the Thai food here and not the Sushi. I have ate in several times, but usually order from here for delivery. Thai dishes are very spicy, so order the medium if you can't handle it. Sushi dishes are typical American type sushi and not impressive. Delivery service has always been prompt and not left me wondering where my dinner is after an hour by the door.

Peeped out the wooden elephant by the entrance door i knew this was going to be good. The food is quite delightful either Japanese or Thai. I was leaning more towards the Thai half. The staff was cool too, even throwing in a Happy Birthday song for Birthdays was another highlight of my time there you gotta be there to know what I'm talking bout. But come down the East Side and partake.

I can't say I've been here, but we ordered from here this evening. The food is really good: I love their vegetable fried rice, their curry is great, and their Pad Thai is to die for. The phone call to the place was easy (good communication) the prices reasonable (6-10 a plate) and delivery fast (30 minutes). The only (kinda big) complaint I have is that they didn't give us plain white rice to go with the curry!

I've been sick all week, and each day I've ordered delivery from a different Thai place. I've never eaten in at Baiplu, though I've been meaning to for awhile, and I have had sushi on the Aki's side. Going through my menu collection at home, Baiplu had an impressive selection of dishes. Being sick, I got the obligatory tom yum gai soup. I was pleased when they asked me how spicy I wanted it so that I had the opportunity to ask for very, very spicy. I also ordered deep fried tofu and an order of spicy noodles. Delivery was extremely prompt; even though they told me it would be about 40 minutes, I'd say it arrived within 20 minutes tops. My soup was chock full of chili peppers and other chunky goodness and certainly met my expectations for spiciness, even if it was a bit on the greasy side. I thought the spicy noodles was a very delicious dish - I'll definitely get this again, whether or not I'm sick, because it was an excellent combination of flavors, what with flat pan fried noodles, chili pepper, red bell pepper, green beans, and choice of meat. The noodles were just right, not too firm, not too soft. Deep fried tofu is pretty simple, but it was also good, cooked to my desired slight crispiness. I'm looking forward to trying Baiplu again, whether it's in the restaurant or delivery again. I'm also excited to see they're opening a location in Los Altos, in the former location of Aida's University Text - I believe that will be the first Thai place that side of town, which should be great for residents and CSULB students alike.

I've been here quite a few times with my vegetarian friend, so it was easy for him to order and I am able to eat something with seafood or meat. After the second time I went there and tried the Suki Ya Ki, I've been hooked! Everything is made right in this dish and I'm grateful for the delicious taste of every bit of seafood in it. They also serve Sushi here other than Thai food, so if you're in the mood for some miso soup or anything else before you start eating a Thai meal, it all works out for you. I don't mind a sushi roll on the side:) The waiters/waitresses are fast..I never know who is really my actual waiter because they all share the work but that's all good with me because I never had a problem with any of them:) It's a nice and clean restaurant and is brightly lit. I've tried the Pad Thai before and it wasn't the best so I gave this place 4 stars.

yummy....yummy.....yummy.....is all i can say! a friend recommended this place as good thai food in long beach. the outside doesn't look too promising, but the food speaks for itself! the pineapple curry was out of this world & my lobster rolls & cucumber salad were to die for! this was my first visit, but will not be my last. great food & great service.

Food was perfectly good and worth the money, I mean way cheap for its quality and taste :) Service was really good too. I used the 10% off from yelp :) Lobster popcorn sushi roll was bomb af. Private parking spot ( we have side street/validated parking ) Oh lastly, thai food + japanese food sounds weird but really a great combo

I've eaten here twice within the past three weeks and have had a good experience both times. We ordered a mixture of Thai and sushi the first time (only veggie rolls) and everything was good. The second time I ordered the veggie rolls only to go and they were just as satisfying at home. I can't recall the name but the veggie roll with mango and panko crumbs on it is yummy, especially of you like mango!

My mom and I were craving sushi today and she brought up this place saying it's really good. So we went to order for take out. We got home and started eating. I was halfway done with my roll and I bit something hard. I spit it into a napkin and it's someone's fake nail! Seeing from the size of it must've been a pinky nail. We all just stopped eating cause we didn't want to find any more nails. Spent $50 for nothing

Was there a change in ownership? This year's lunch orders from our office have not been up to par. Wrong orders, forgetting to include the noodles on a boat noodle soup, among other careless things. We order for delivery frequently & this last order was the worst. The bbq chicken I've had there used to fall off the bone, this time it was hard & dry/overcooked & it tasted like teriyaki chicken. I called & complained. They gave me $10 credit for next time on the 2 bbq chicken lunch specials, ugh not even what both are worth. Either way Not coming back not even my co-workers. Bye to our big $$ tips!

I've ordered take out from this place several times. Each time is pretty good. I've ordered the pineapple Curry, fried rice, pineapple fried rice, satay and egg rolls/creamcheese wonton. All delightful and fresh tasting with fresh green onion and crosscut cucumber. The portions are big and I end up taking food home with me.

I ordered online via GrubHub for the first time and my order was ready to be picked up within 25 minutes. Not bad. The food is good (a little greasy). I ordered the house special cashew nut chicken which came with shrimp fried rice (two shrimp to be exact). It's enough for one person or for two small people to share. Parking at this place blows, so even picking up is a pain. I agree with other reviewers who say this is the best Thai food in Long Beach. Your House on PCH is a close second, IMHO.

This is the last time we're coming here. Our meal tasted like it was old and stale and when we informed our server, she tried to make it sound like we were making it up! She rambled on that no one ever said their food taste bad. We ordered the salmon teriyaki and beef teriyaki dinner box. Meat was not warm and tasted weird, salmon was dry and had a foul smell. Very rude service at this location.

We discovered this place through the EAT app-- it is so nice to have delivery of something besides pizza and it satisfies my craving for sushi and my boyfriend is excited to find Thai food he likes! We haven't dined in yet. The only negative experiences we have had is once they forgot my avocado I paid to upgrade and another they flat out asked for a tip at the door (umm yeah we were going to tip, you didn't have to ask.) It takes about an hour to deliver. Overall, would highly recommend!

I ordered food from here during a week day. I had it delivered to my workplace. It literally took them more than an hour almost 1.5 hrs to get here even though they said it would only take 45 min to 1 hr. Ridiculous. The food was alright. I ordered the baked salmon sushi roll. It was good but not exceptional. It was $13. I could have gotten the same roll somewhere else for much cheaper to be honest. It didn't really seem worth it. I probably won't be ordering from here again since there are so many other thai and sushi places around the area who deliver much faster and who charge less.

[STAR RATING FOR SPECIFIC FOOD ITEM ONLY] So was it pad see "eww", or was it pad see "yum", you ask? It's the latter! Ordered the chicken pad see ew to go. It came out in exactly ten minutes. The portion was so generous, people that donated to Goodwill every day got jealous! The chicken was a little dry, the noodles a tad oily, but the flavor was there; savory with just a hint of sweetness. The ingredient-to-noodle ratio was excellent. There was also no clumping of any kind. The noodles stayed separated like a divorced wife and her ex-husband. This is one of those dishes that as soon as I get it, I'm eating it, even if it means risking burns to the roof of my mouth like a fire-eater that came to your city with a traveling circus group. [note] The place looks a bit rugged on the outside, but the inside is nice, like me :] Peace

This place has awesome chill atmosphere. It's clean and has a certain asian style similar to what you see at asian buffets. I like how it serves student Asian foods like sushi and thai etc. So if you are in a asian mood but indecisive of what to get go here. Plus they serve the food pretty fast. It was like a 10 minute wait.

Sushi is always fresh & the restaurant is always imacculately clean. They have great specials on weekdays too. I gave 4 stars though due to them forgetting things on my order on two oocassions. Also, they never label the various sauces unless you tell them to on the deliveries. That being said, this is still my favorite/go-to place near home for sushi and thai food.

Delicious, fresh and FAST!!! Delivery! Chili and mint chicken, medium was fresh, cooked well and the right heat. Larb, chicken was outstanding. The fresh, clean and HOT salad/cabbage wraps were perfect. Also has spicy tuna salad, that had the tuna into a sorta paste, but the combination of the tuna, sesame seeds, cucumber slices, pickled carrots was great and perfect for two. Did i mention that the were fast???? Order to delivery, bout 4 miles away? 21 minutes.

Baiplu and Aki Sushi Bar is my favorite Thai and sushi restaurant in Long Beach. Baiplu and Aki Sushi is co-owned and produces some good sushi and Thai dishes at affordable prices. I recommend you try Aki's hula hula roll, which has mango, tuna, salmon, crab, shrimp and avocado rolled up. It is soooo savory that it leaves your taste buds in orgasmic heaven. OMG! It was such a wonderful experience. I can't wait to return for another roll soon. That roll was fantastic. The pokey salad is amazing too, as is the panang curry with chicken. Baiplu is the best Thai and sushi restaurant I have tried in Long Beach. My sweetie and I love this place and are so happy to have found such a great restaurant in Long Beach. The service and the food never disappoint. It's very good. Note: It's in a seedy part of town that gets ugly at night. I recommend going to Baiplu in the day time. It's safer and easier to park in their parking lot. I've been to Baiplu at night, and the neighborhood gets ghetto. I witnessed a gang fight, drunks panhandle and some kids get high. Not a good location. However, in July '08, another Baiplu will be opening on Bellflower (near Stearns), making it easier to access in the evening, which is good news.

Friendly service. Consistently good food, both Thai and Sushi. Happy Ending... the 1/2 sliced orange you get at the end of your meal. So delicious. I'm very surprised at the low ratings of this place.

I'm not sure if I was just craving sushi like a wild woman but the sushi that was delivered to me was amazing! I had the baked salmon roll and the crunchy spicy tuna. It was packaged very nicely and accommodations were made for the sauces as they didn't pour over the top to make the crunchies soggy - the sauce came in a separate cup. It seems that there are quite a few not so great comments about their sushi but I thought it was above average. I'm waiting for the second delivery right now - hopefully it will be just as good :-)

Went there with my Sister some time last week and liked it more than the last time I remembered it. We went during lunch time so I guess it wasn't as busy as the last time I was there for dinner. They have great lunch specials! I was lucky enough to go there on a day where their salmon teriyaki combo was the "daily combo". I guess they have a different special combo for each day of the week. It was okay... although the salmon could have been bigger and thicker. My Sister ordered the papaya salad and some beef jerky. The papaya salad was a little on the sweet side... which I didn't like so much because I usually like it spicy and sour. The beef jerky was also... decent. Don't bother with the sauce that it comes with... you know, the thick one that you don't really see anywhere else. What happened to good ol' lime juice and salt and pepper and vinegar? :( Now onto the POPCORN LOBSTER ROLL! Yum!! That was the best thing we had that day and I think my Sis and I were secretly fighting for it. I let her win since her food turned out worse than mine. HAHA... but next time, its all mine! Oh... and when they mean LARGE Thai Iced Tea, they mean HUUUUUUGE! You'll see! The service was great, though... and I like a lot of places for the service and cleanliness. This had all that... but lacked the finger lickin' qualities.

Amazing Thai Food!!! I love this location and the Bellflower one. Pad Thai with chicken is my favorite and their won ton soup is wonderful :) The orange chicken is most definitely the most unique I have tasted(in a good way), but stay away from the rice...it smells like wet dog! I'm not crazy about ordering delivery from them since you have to yell your credit card number over the phone about 3 times and ask "What are you saying??" half of the phone conversation..oh and my favorite: "Do you know where we are located? -Yes I live down the street. - Where are we then??? WTF?? If I say I know where it is, then please don't give me a quiz about it. But overall the taste is the best I've had in the Long Beach area

I really don't eat much Thai food at home...so coming to Baiplu reminded me of when I went to Thailand in 3rd grade. Exotic foods, sweet foods, and lots of different things to try. When we ate in the restaurant I ordered the Panam Curry, while we all shared a medium spicy soup (can't remember the name of it). The curry was sweet! Literally! And it was very different from the Japanese /Indian curry that I am used to. The sweet coconut milk really adds a different flavor to the mix. The soup we ordered had SOOOO much vinegar in it that I almost couldn't swallow! It was pretty intense...and it was only medium! It really helped to clear my sinuses hahaha :) The overall experience was really cool b/c I really don't have a developed Thai palette. The waitresses were really nice and didn't let our glasses go dry. They also have a delivery service which is quick like lightning!!!!

I LOVE Aki's! I found this through the LA County Entertainment book and got 20% off my first time. I've tried the Thai side which has some really great dishes like the Garlic Chicken and the Yellow Curry Chicken but the sushi side, BY FAR, is my ultimate favorite! The Las Vegas and Fire rolls are OUTSTANDING! The prices are a bit much but the service is always great (sit near Kaz if you get the chance) the drinks are always good and the other diners are usually regulars, employees on their day off or other great people looking to have a great time and share their sake on week nights around 8! Check it out! PS The OTHER Aki sushi on 7th and Redondo is owned by former sushi chef of this joint and I've heard it's NOTHING compared to this one!!!

This is a great place with a lot to choose from on the menu from Thai food to Sushi. We usually prefer to choose from the Thai dishes. My all time favorite veggie here is the Chinese broccoli cooked with crispy pork. This veggie has great flavor! Today, we also had the Pineapple Fried Rice and Pad Thai. It was yummy! The people here are super friendly!

Just had a lunch meeting at this place...it looked pretty sketchy from the outside, but when inside, I was pleasantly surprised but stylish decor. I stuck only to the Thai/Cambodian style foods on this trip: food was VERY impressive! My Cambodian cultural guide approved of the items ordered and they were awesome!! Duck Curry, jerkey, stuffed trout, green and papaya salad were some of the best I've had! I can't wait to come again!

I really like this place alot. Ate here tons of times. Especially when Thai restaurant is combined with a sushi bar. Nothing is better to get a thai entree and a sushi on the side right? Just by looking at their menu, it was probably an inch thick! That says to me, they have lots of varieties of food. There were so many, I can't choose, but I know what I was craving that night. Mmm..really admire their Pad See Ew, it was fast and delicious. I really like the atmosphere, it was clean and the servers were really nice. On the plus side, love that they have their own LAKERS SUSHI, woohoo!! Let's go Lakers!

At the price we paid the food should have been much better. The meat was terribly dry and the food ultimately made everyone sick. When I first started ordering here they were great. What a disappointment.

BBQ chicken is dry, despite the sweet sauce. Chinese broccoli with salty fish is really salty so the waitress asked us if we had it before when we ordered it. From the sushi menu we only tried the tuna with quail egg and roe. I don't recommend this place for a birthday. My water was refilled so often I barely drank my hot jasmine tea. Our group of five needed two medium containers of rice. Papaya salad was spicy. The food arrived quickly. The waitress always came by to ask us if we were okay but whenever we needed napkins and spoons later it would be hard to contact her. When I spilled someone else's beer a couple of times, she said I was drunk.

  • Davis T.

The food was decent, but the portion was getting smaller and smaller recently. One good thing was you can have brown rice in stead of white rice, but of course come with a price. I like the pineapple fried rice but not the crying tiger or the papaya salad very much. Curry dish was good but again the portion was tiny. Parking might be a challenge in that area if you come during the rush hour. My score was 6.0 out of 10.

7th Street is so ghetto for me. Luckily we get to go on day time as some Yelpers was telling me that this place was the only bright spot on a dark street at night. Yeah! Tell me about it. How do some of us Yelpers decide to come here for our luncheon gathering? Well, as Hana K. was telling us in that all she did was typed the word "Thai" in the Long Beach section of Yelp, this place comes up on top. Just imagine if she put in the word "Japanese food", I'm pretty sure V2O will be on top of that list. Might as well get some boggie down dancing with that. Wish that would have happened. Ha! This place is very weird. It looked very nice and very clean. Not as big as we thought based on the pictures from the website. What I meant by weird as the place is split up in two sections. One section is for people who wants to eat Thai food while the other half of the place is dedicated for people who wants to eat sushi. What would happened if we want both? Interestingly, we were going to find out. We would have to ordered Thai food first in the first bill, then we can proceed with the sushi orders. When the check came, the total was split in two bills. One was for the sushi, while the Thai bill came in Thai, not English. Funny for some people, but obscure for getting two separate bills. The food was good. Most of our noodle dishes from the Thai section was excellent. The sushi posed some problem for many of us as we sort of didn't want to take a chance on raw spicy tuna. However, good ol' Hana K. took it like a trooper. I personally liked the Sunset sushi I ordered. Though the crispy rolls was not bad either. The deep fried tofu, even though spicy, was surprisingly a good choice of an item. There's even a fried rice that was ordered and it was pretty good choice also. The service is not bad when you needed them, though it might need to step up in face of large group of people. With small group or just a table for two, it might not face with many different requests. I sort of gotten the feeling in that with so many frequent calling of our server, it bogged them down a little and our table didn't get the attention it needed at times. We were actually getting attentive service in the beginning as it was only three of us. As time past, arrivals started to trickling in to our table and more request was made, the service was getting more uneven. The pricing of the item is more than reasonable and the food was good in speaking for itself. If we were a little more daring, we can try other sushi, especially the sushimi . Overall, it is good place to get a choice of either Thai food or sushi as it is being suggested. Now I am just wondering if good ol' Hana would just put the word sushi...would this place come up on the top? Don't worry Hana...I trust you!........... SO FAR! -------------------------------- Unofficial Yelp Note: Event took place at 2/24/07 It's the first time I met Hana K. (yipee!). Also attended was Cidne W., Linda N., Claire D. and hubby Tony D., and Rodger R. You may check the photos here at: flickr.com/photos/468691…

I love this place for the awesome Thai and Japanese food. It's not fusion, it's a 2 in 1 joint! Feeling Thai, go for the BBQ chicken. The marinate is so good plus they give you another sauce that compliments the flavors. Wowser! Feeling Sushi like, go for the 911 special. Yum! Service is friendly. Prices are reasonable. Great place for groups! Parking is tight but you'll manage.

Happy Hour Happy Hour Happy Hour! No I'm not talking about the bar, but their menu. $6 rolls during 4-6pm on weekdays! Can't beat that! The rolls are DELICIOUS. We went on a Tuesday and got the Laker Roll and Yellow Curry. I must admit, I was expecting a somewhat little roll since it was only $6 but it was a very good size (I would expect to pay at least $12 for this roll at another restaurant) and the Yellow Curry was also very good. We got it spicy and it definitely exceeded our expectations. They have different rolls during happy hour depending on the days and I am more than willing to go back every day and try every single one of em. I go to school two blocks away from this place so I'll definitely be coming back! I highly recommend this if you enjoy rolls and thai food.

This place is a piece of shit. Ok, ok...my friends asked me out to get some Thai food and since we were heading to Long Beach, we agreed to meet them at Baiplu. Since I don't eat Thai, I ordered sushi. BAD IDEA. The "sushi", if you can even call it that, was basically like dead skin on your feet. Old, smelly, and yellow. I had about 5 kinds of assorted nigiri but only ate 1 of the 2 pieces per order. Even hubby wouldn't eat it because it looked so disgusting and old. We told the manager about the shitty sushi and she was nice and apologetic but didn't do anything about it. Baiplu, you need to shut down the entire sushi operation and stick with the Thai food (which, according to my friends, was good).

My friend and I were in downtown Long Beach for an event, but had an hour to kill. We were walking around looking for a place to eat. We were headed to KFC when we saw this place. My buddy loves Thai food, so we went in and sat down. We were not disappointed. The menu is fantastic with all sorts of dishes to choose from. I had a Bento Box dinner with Ca. Roll and Salmon Teriyaki. Very good. My friend ordered Lucky Noodles...also very good. The wait staff was very attentive and took time to answer questions. They even offered to adjust the spice in the dishes. They have a fantastic array of both Japanese and Thai food. I don't often make it to Long Beach, but when I do, I will definitely be back!

  • Jessica H.

I don't think I'd go so far as to say this is "authentic" sushi but it is very good for a roll-centric sushi bar. Though I normally prefer sashimi or nigiri, I only tried the rolls here (when in Rome...). We tried the spider roll, Aki roll, dragon roll, rainbow roll, Long Beach roll, Hawaiian roll, and maybe one or two others. They were all very tasty. The servers were very friendly and quick. I almost want to come back again just because the people working here were so nice. Well, that and the Thai food on the other side of the restaurant smelled really good, so I have to try that too. Except for when the people next to us ordered some really stinky soup, that didn't smell so good. But for the most part, the Thai place smelled very enticing. So I would like to try it. But I'd come back for the sushi, too. Try to come early, though, so you can park. We got there around 7 p.m. and there were still some parking spaces in the tiny parking lot next to the restaurant, but when we left we could barely get our car out, it was so full.

4 stars, and in light of its surroundings, that should read like a Michelin 3-star. We biked here on a Sunday evening and were seated right away. The place is very bright, and has a few big screens above the sushi bar. Service was attentive, and food came out SUPER fast, which was nice. Everything was decent quality and priced well. A few pluses: 1) seaweed on the hand roll was crisp, rather than that soggy, make-a-scene-trying-to-tear-it-with-your-two-front-teeth seaweed 2) vegetable roll was spiced up with some creative veggies 3) popcorn lobster roll - jesus. just, jesus. and 4) edamame served hot, and tasted like butter. We walked back out, and our bikes were still there, and hightailed it outta there!

I have been going to this place for about 2 years. If you are looking for some good sushi, I would recommend on trying Aki. They have a great selection and some unique items which are really good. They also have another side of the restaurant that sells Thai food. Their selection is great and the food is really good. I like their Curry Duck dish. If you are looking for a good place for Sushi or Thai food in Long Beach. This is a great place to go.

A friend recommended Aki to me and my life hasn't been the same since. So many great rolls, appetizers, and thai foods. My mouth is watering just writing about it. Great service and friendly staff! Sit at the sushi bar or slide into a comfy booth. You won't be disappointed! Sunset roll is my all time favorite. HulaHula roll a close 2nd. They also treat you well when it's your birthday. The song they play is outstanding! :)

Friends birthday and he's having it in Long Beach. Seriously? I actually don't have to drive to LA for once on a Saturday night? Awesome! It's not in the best part of Long Beach but I pretty much grew up in the LB area so no big deal to me. Parking is wretched but you get by that too. There's a small lot and people try to fit in every nook and cranny in there so be careful. You can park on the street but be careful too. LOL. We have a long table and everyone's having a good time. We get sushi, noodles, and all sorts of stuff with sake and beer of course. One roll that I always get (and never remember what it's called) was good here too. The one that wrapped in cucumber instead of the rice and seaweed? Well the best thing about this place is the ambiance. We were all loud, the waiters did sake bombs with us and banged the table, etc. It was so much fun! Other than that everything else is just okay, nothing really special. It's definitely a good night when you and your friends are getting smashed up and laughing ya know? They even brought him dessert for his birthday so that was cute. Sweets after all those sake bombs? Don't know about that, but the thought was nice. :)

Been going here for about 25 years since the food was so good. The good news is that the food is still good and the wait staff is great. The interior has improved dramatically over the years. One recent observation: lately the portion size has been shrinking significantly and the prices have risen sharply. Still good, just not the fantastic hole-in-the-wall it once was.

I'm a little bummed out tonight. I ordered food for delivery since I'm only half a block away and I'm too sick to go out. This has been my go-to Thai restaurant (I love that they also have a sushi bar) for over 10 years! Ever since they used to be Siam or whatever they were called, but the customer service I received over the phone tonight left a bad taste in my mouth. First, the lady kind of complained about my order being so small. I had ordered a large spicy chicken soup, a medium steamed rice and some egg noodles to be shared amongst 2. Total was going to be a little over $17 and their flier states $15 minimum for delivery. Lady then says it's going to be 50-65 minutes. Wtf?! OK, whatever. I called back literally 2-3 minutes to cancel the steamed rice and instead get mixed veggies (more money for them). She asks for my address and then asked what I wanted to change, and after I told her she goes on to say she can't make changes because the order is on its way. Really? 3 minutes ago I was told about an hour wait! I mention this to her and all of a sudden she can make the change. She prices the mixed veggies the same as if they had meat even though I didn't want meat- she insists it's the same price regardless, so I ask her to add chicken. After getting off the phone with her, my food gets here in like 10-15 minutes which makes me happy. The mixed veggies only had 3-4 pieces of chicken and I felt the soup should have been larger. When I eat in the restaurant with my parents, the three of us share the soup easy. I served myself a bowl with the "egg noodles" (it's just ramen) and finished half the soup in the container. I'm a little disappointed.... 5 stars for quality/flavor 5 stars for speedy delivery 2 stars for customer service 3 stars for portion size 3 stars for ramen instead of nice, thick egg noodles Should be 3.5 stars but I'll be nice since I did get my soup and didn't have to go out to fetch it.

My best friend and I were seated the moment we walked in the door, we ordered edamame, Tom Kha Kai (spicy coconut chicken soup), a Tiger roll, jasmine tea and green tea, and a side of white rice. Our food came rapidly and we were checked up on plenty of times. The bill was easily split in 1/2 with no problem and we left satisfied and full.

I've been going to Bai Plu, for many many years. The food used to be better, as well as the service. I was very disappointed when we got our delivery order. I had 2 orders of the garlic beef. They gave us a lot of lettuce and very little beef, for almost $10 a piece. It's sad that since they've expanded and the quality and quantity has gone down.

Bai Plu is my go-to place for sushi and Thai food in Long Beach. On this occasion, I dined in and the service was impeccable. Several servers act as one filling up your water, delivering dishes, busing away finished dishes, and asking if I needed anything several times. That's the case each time I visit but tonight, they went far above that. I took advantage of their Sushi special in which you order 2 specialty rolls and receive a free appetizer or simple roll. The rolls I ordered were the Hawaiian and the Dragon rolls which were made promptly and delivered at the same time by two servers. Both rolls were fresh and delicious. The spicy tuna, scallops, avacado, and all other ingredients were perfect. I also ordered the Spicy Noodles with Chicken and that dish had plenty of flavor. It lacked the heat the namesake describes but it still delivered in presentation and freshness. I left full and extremely satisfied. They even give a discount if you Check In through Yelp!

It was getting late and I was craving Thai food. I hadn't been too impressed by some of the places that were closer to me so I gave Baiplu a shot. I ordered the Yellow curry and the crab fried rice for delivery. The delivery was very fast. I was surprised because I was expecting it to take a while which would have been fine, but I got a call that my food was outside in about 20 minutes! I asked for both items to be spicy and they had a little kick, but they weren't spicy at all really. The fried rice was great. It had big pieces of pork and shredded crab and with the lime squeezed over the top, it was delicious. It was a big portion too. The yellow curry was great too. I forgot to order rice so I had to make some real quick but the curry had a great flavor and the chicken was great. I liked that this place had a huge menu and that the prices were reasonable. I'll be back for sure to try more.

Service was great..got to our seats without waiting and our food (large order) quickly came out in what felt like five minutes after ordering it. The waiters were nice and def would come here again.

Order from this place all the time through Eat24 and have it delivered. The food is always great and is so fresh. Takes a while to be delivered some times but worth the wait.

Delivery was FAST. Couldn't believe it. I ordered the Tom Kha soup... vegetables only. FAIL. Had chicken in it. I tasted the chicken... funky. Tossed it. Just had the broth only over rice. Ordered the won tons... what a joke. All pastry no meat. The dipping sauce was ok. Also got some mochi ice cream balls.. meh.. didn't care them at all. Thai is really lacking in my neighborhood.

This is our go-to sushi delivery place. I never thought it would be possible to have decent sushi delivered, but this place does it! I'd love to try this place in person someday, but so far, I have no complaints with their yummy sushi and fast delivery on nights where we're too lazy to go out.

I've come here more than a handful of times because the food is pretty darn good and their offerings are generally better than most other Thai places I've gone to. The chili-lime sauce they serve up with their Crying Tiger special alone excite my taste buds more than I can say. So as far as the food itself goes? It deserves a solid 4 stars. That being said, I'm pretty disappointed by the treatment I received from this place. The service was never anything to brag about but the good food would off-set it. I couldn't make it there once, but was really craving their menu so I decided to order delivery online. My first attempt was at their Bellflower Blvd location but the restaurant said they don't deliver to my area as it was just under 2 miles away. I figured that was fair and noticed the 7th street location was about a mile and half so I gave it a shot. I was lucky to find that they would deliver to my apartment. The delivery itself only took about 40-45 minutes, which I feel is fair for full restaurant orders. When the guy showed up with my food, he told me never to order from them again and that this was the only time they'd do. He then proceeded to tell me I should have ordered from the Bellflower Blvd location. I told him that restaurant wouldn't deliver to me and he just said: "Well I had to drive all the way from 7th street". I was FLOORED by this! First off, we're talking 1.5 miles away. Second, if your restaurant doesn't deliver to a specific area, then they need to set up their borders better so this wouldn't even happen. Lastly, how is it right to talk to your customers that way? So from a customer service standpoint, I'd love to give them zero stars for the rude treatment. Given that the whole intent behind restaurants is that they offer you food and customer service, they're getting 2 stars from me. I sincerely hope the managers pay attention to the people they send out to deliver their food. If this is the type of treatment their paying customers can expect, they're going to start seeing a steady decline in their patronage. EDIT 5/20/15: Done with this place. The manager had reached out directly in effort to rectify the customer service issue and despite that, I've had 2 additional horrible experiences with 2 different delivery guys. Not entirely sure if this is a failure of the 3 employees or of the management who don't know how to train their staff. If your establishment isn't equipped to handle delivery orders, then don't offer this type of service. Dropping my review to 1 star. This place has lost a customer who's given them more than enough chances.

Has to be the place to go if you're indecisive. Good sushi rolls as well as Thai food. Always order to go here but plenty of seating inside. Small parking and kind of small to locate but definitely worth trying. I'm sure you'll come back.

I used to love this place but their continued decline in to go service is forcing me to downgrade to a two star. The food is good but I highly recommend that you NOT ORDER IT TO GO OR FOR DELIVERY because if you do they will rip you off. They have changed their containers and now charge you full price for what is less than 2/3 of what is served to you as a dinner in house. When I opened my bag of delivered food I couldn't believe what I was seeing, since I order from them all the time. Everything was a fraction of the size it used to be and of what is served in the restaurant yet I was charged full price. $12.99 for curry and rice and there was one of my small kitchen bowls of curry in the container!?! Same this with my Tom yum soup and pad see ew. When I called all the manager did was argue and tell me I'm wrong. I've been a customer for years I know the difference. I was just there 2 weeks ago and brought home more curry as left overs than I was brought as a full price dish for delivery. Never again...to many thai restaurants in LB to put up with this kind of service.

I use to love coming to this location because it was half the distance if I was to go to their other location. I would always come here after work if I was to lazy and exhausted to cook at home. After today, I am never coming here again. Being that I was sick and too tired to cook food, I decided to pick up food for my family. I ordered two sushi rolls, a curry, and a stir fry. I specifically said THREE TIMES I wanted the Chinese broccoli with beef & oyster sauce, yet she thought she was clever and gave me beef with Thai chili. I also said that I wanted the rolls to be separated and not in one box because I am allergic to seashell, so I wanted the Philly roll to be separated from the other roll (being that it had shrimp in it). They charge you 2.50 for a small cup of rice which isn't even half as if you were to dine in. Also... the poke salad only consist of three cubes of fish and nothing but cucumber. Really? Eight dollars for cucumbers? NEVER ORDER FOOD TO GO! They will ripe you off. The customer service as decline tremendously. No greets, no offering you a chair to sit down while you can decide what to order to go. I'm so disappointed, my dad loves this place... but now we won't be coming back. I'd give it one star because I'm so furious, but since I use to love this place.. two stars.

Ordered food from here online which was cold when it got here. It took them 1hour and 30mintues to delivery. I kept trying to find out what was going on with my order and they said "it will take a little longer" The man that dropped off the food was rude and told me I was wasting his time because I took a long time to come downstairs to pickup the food and that I was making other customers wait for their orders when mine took an hour and a half. I felt very disrespected. Would rather order from Asian Chef anyday. These people are rude and do not have form of integrity, even in their cold nasty food. Just ruined my appetite I threw it away.

Came in for sushi and wanted to get the special where you get 2 special rolls and you got a regular roll with it. I asked for take out and told it was dine in only, (even though I'm sitting here waiting for my take out and there is nothing anywhere that says it's for dine in only) so I asked to dine in and they told me if I got dine in I would have to eat all my food there. I come here all the time because the sushi is really good, but I agree with other reviews that the service is q. Not only that, but as I am sitting here, I can them talking about me.

This is the second time I have ordered delivery from this location and it has been terrible. Over 20 min late. When I called in to check, the woman was rude and unapologetic. The delivery man was equally as rude. The food was cold and the edamame was hard and uncooked. All in all, very disappointing - especially considering that I spent $20 on lunch, just to qualify for delivery. There are much better, much friendlier thai places in town and I encourage you to try them.

I luck up on this spot while apartment hunting. I am so glad I did so I had to introduce my Baby Girl to it. This place is so good, fresh and restroom is immaculate and that is plus. So this is my third time here and as the saying goes third times a charm. So I have decided that my favorite roll is the Baked Salmon Roll which is Spicy Crab, Shrimp and Avocado topped with Baked Salmon and special sauce. Okay now my Baby Girl likes her Crunchy Roll which is Shrimp tempura, Avocado and Asparagus inside topped with Crunchy Flakes and Sweet Eel Sauce . If you like really good sushi within a budget this is a must try.

I was skeptical at first due to the variety of selections however after having tried both their sushi and Thai dishes I must say I'm now a fan. The sushi is extremely fresh and tasty and the Thai dishes are both authentic and yummy!! I recommend the Lollipop roll as well as the Green Beans w/ chicken.

Love this place. Come here once in a while like maybe twice a month for the great sushi they have. I'll recommend the Lakers roll. Have variety of sushi. My wife never tried Thai food, when i brought her she fell in love with it. She loves the spicy seafood soup. Also the Pad See Ew Spicy fried rice with shrimp And nothing better than the Thai tea

I'm torn. I want to like this place, but I just can't. I ordered delivery. Tuna Roll Sushi, Scallops and Peapods, spicy. The delivery was quick, but I ordered on a weekday for lunch. The sushi was good, pretty fresh. But the scallops and peapods? Total, utter, disappointment. It was a $10.99 dish that consisted of all peapods and a handful of those tiny, 1cm big scallops that did not taste/feel fresh, even. I actually thought, 'oh no! they forgot the scallops!' when I first looked in the container. I felt so scammed. The taste of the sauce it came in was good, the spicy level was right, but I basically paid $11 for peapods in brown sauce. And on top of that, it didn't even come with rice so I could fill up on sauce over rice. So here I am. Still kind of hungry.

I was very sketchy about this place. A Japanese AND Thai restaurant, one side has to suffer or they're both mediocre. We still gave this place a chance and we're so glad we did. I usually get pad Thai but opted for pad see ew. So glad I did!!! It was delicious. Oddly enough there was enough there was a bit of sweetness in it. I always compare other places to this place. The bf enjoys the beef jerky from here we've tried them from other places but they don't seem to compare.

So so food. Terrible service. Difficult to get an order in. The turn over of staff is quick n that I have to explain each time what food item I want. If you must, then just remember the number on the food n order them. So so food.... Why?! Because the quality is not consistent. Sometimes the sushi is stale!!! Yes, we can tell the difference!! If you read reviews from other customers you will realize that their service is declining. If you still want to go eat there, your tab would be about $12-15 without drinks.

I give this place three stars, but mainly because it is inconsistent. I come here a lot because it is within walking distance of where I live, and I like the convenience of being able to order from EAT24. I really like their Thai food, especially their curry and pad thai. i have also enjoyed the few sushi roles that I have had. However, other menu items leave something to be desired, especially the Chinese items on the menu, which I cannot stress that I highly recommend not ordering. I also wasn't happy with the tom yum soup I ordered. Again, overall it is a good restaurant for Thai food and sushi, but the menu is so extensive that sometimes that leaves room for some mediocre dishes. I still will continue to come here because they are always good about getting my EAT24 orders. Nonetheless, it is a restaurant where it is very necessary to be selective with what you order because not everything is great here.

I've been ordering delivery from here for years and it's always been excellent. Their panang curry is easily the best I've ever had, striking just the right balance of spice and creaminess. I enjoy their chinese broccoli as well. I've ordered their sushi a few times and it's always been a bit off, though not bad by any means. Stick to their thai fare though and you're good as gold.

Baiplu Aki is easily one of my top three dinner choices in the LBC. Everything is delicious, from the rice dishes to the curries to the soups and the sushi. Did I mention you can get sushi and Thai at the same time at this place??? It's AMAZING! The only problem I encounter when coming to Baiplu Aki is deciding what to order, since the menu is so extensive and everything looks and sounds so yummy. It usually takes me around twenty minutes and an entire beer to make up my mind, and I always end up spending more than I should because I order too much food. The good thing is, most of their menu items hold up well for to-go boxing. I've never been disappointed by one of their curries, and I also really like the Thai salad, which comes with giant slices of perfectly ripened tomato, a hefty portion of hard-boiled egg, and one of the best peanut dressings I've ever tasted. My boyfriend and I are trying to make it in for each of their happy hour sushi specials, which run every night of the week.

A great little place for those who cant seem to make up their mind... which is me. Thai or Sushi...both please! While everything I've had was at least good, some things are definately better than others, but by far, the best thing I've had off the menu is their coconut soup. I have been coming here or ordering take-out for ages. If you dine here be warned that it's a little to brightly lit..... and this place gets very busy.

In the words of Nat King Cole, I love Baiplu for sentimental reasons. Funny how those reasons can help contribute to a good rating, because the encounter I had with their food the last time I came ended up quite horribly. I would say, generally, to stay away from the raw fish here and stick with the thai food. I got pretty violently ill after I ordered and ate the chirashi bowl, but maybe it wasn't the chirashi bowl that caused it. I'm just not sure. All I know is that it was unpleasant ... and just bad and gross. All that being said, yes, I still like Baiplu enough to give it four stars. Like I said, sentimental reasons: it was the first thai place I went in Long Beach, every time I've gone, it's been with either old friend or new friends, and good company can attribute a lot to a dining experience. Also, they have two doors you can enter from, right next to each other, which maybe demarcates the "thai side" and the "japanese side," but it doesn't really matter where you sit, the food's the same everywhere. My friends this weekend were smarter than I and all ordered thai food. I tastes a few of their dishes and liked the green salmon curry the best. Very spicy. The chirashi bowl ... well, it was good while I ate it, but the next morning I was in pain ... PAIN.

i absolutely love this place. not only have i eaten in a few times but i order delivery from them all the time. their wonton wrapped shrimp and pad see ew is killer! the only reason i am not giving them 5 stars is because they once delivered chicken in a dish instead of shrimp (i don't eat chicken) and even though it was their mistake, they must have been too busy to care because they refused to fix it.

  • Tanya I.

This is my go-to Thai delivery. More authentic than the other local delivery places, although a bit more expensive. But the quality speaks for itself. Always always always order the spring rolls. They have a great peanut sauce. Pad se ew is great too. I'm sure the other items are good as well, but I can't quit a good thing.

  • Jennifer R.

Omfg I love their coconut soup and Laker Rolls, and their Curry Fried Rice. Mmmmmm. And their Rocky Roll. Pad See Eew is yummers as well. Can you tell I love this place? When I first started coming here, the customer service was top notch. Idk what happened, but these days, only a couple of waiters give a whoboo that you might actually tip them generously if they are courteous to you. And the same goes for the Bellflower Blvd location too. If they just bumped up their customer service, I would literally live here. Maybe that's why they have such bad service...

He wanted to drive to Torrance to try a Thai eatery, Siam I Am, while I was not excited about driving into the crowded South Bay on a Friday afternoon for lunch. I hate the fucking traffic. So we called Yelp's Alpha Bitch (Cidne) and asked what we should do and she recommended a funny-named place on 7th St in the LBC called Bai-Plu. There are times I literally crave some really hot Thai in me. Would this place satisfy my whorish, wanton needs? It's not a pretty area. It's your typical busy, semi-industrialized, dirty street-side eatery and I told him that if it didn't look good inside, we'd drive on. We entered into a fairly busy, clean, open and well-lit split dining room, one side a sushi bar, the other being the Thai served tables and were motioned to a booth under a salt water aquarium. I sat facing the door (a preferred urban seating arrangement...me being a gal with a "situational awareness" self-protection ethos) while he got to see pretty tangs, clowns and anemones swim languidly above my head, my blouse not exposing enough. We ordered 4 entrees (chicken chili mint leaves, sweet & sour tofu special, red curry beef and kua noodle shrimp) each priced from $5.95 to $8.95 each perfectly proportioned. By "perfect" I mean each entree was entirely gone by the end of lunch, we being fully sated. Each was absolutely delicious, extremely flavorful and spiced exactly right. He even asked for more napkins to wipe the happy sweat from his forehead while grinning his satisfaction. And he thinks I forgot his first forkful landed on his shirt... So, you may ask, did the hot fresh Thai satisfy my own particular needs? Yes, it did, handsomely. And I'm glad I wore a short skirt and skimpy blouse this February day or I might've overheated in tasty finger-lickin' pleasure.

This is THE place for Thai lunch specials in Long Beach. For $6.99 you get 2 wontons, a choice of Soup or Salad and a Generous choice of their dishes. The soup is so great and if I could just have that everyday I would. I usually order the Cashew Nut Chicken which is excellent. It has a light sauce that is sweet yet does not overpower the chicken. Very good. My husband orders the Panang Curry and he says no place in the area can compare to Baiplu for Panang. We have tried their sushi many times as well, and it is always excellent. When we come in for lunch we will grab what they have for special for the day and it is always a great experience. Lastly this place delivers too! Unlike most places, Baiplu will deliver soup as well. They are usually very quick and I always am sure to give a nice tip because my yard can be a hassle to get through at times. If you are looking for Thai food and you are in the area, try this place out! They have a location on Bellflower as well that is nearly identical in food and service, so try either one!

I am sad to rate this restaurant this low. I have ordered many times for delivery and everything has always been ok, acceptable. Last night i ordered the spicy pork noodles. ( medium spice) We got our order rather quickly. Starved we dove into the noodle dish. It was inedible. IT was so hot, I actually got some sauce on my hand it caused a burning sensation. This is not the normal food. I thought for the cost of dinner, I want something that is edible. I called the restaurant asap. I spoke with a lady who asked me how I ordered the food. I told her she had the audacity to tell me "nex time you ordo mil nooles." I told her sure but considering we have ordered medium before and never had this issue. We had another box delivered by the same delivery guy. NO thank you kiss my arse nothing. He knocked on the door, handed my husband the new food and asked for the uneaten portion of noodles to take back. He took it without so much as a thank you, I am sorry, good night, good bye, go to hell. SORRY. THIS RUINED IT FOR ME. I 'd rather order from our local friendly restaurant.. this will never happen again. Nothing like being lectured on how to order your dinner, and to get a replacement dish with attitude from the driver. No tip, sorry..

Been here a few times. The sushi rolls are pretty bomb and if you're lucky enough to have the right people working it has always been all good....until......this last visit. Had friends visiting from out of town and decided on sushi. We had the misfortune of landing the lady who works there who acts like she would rather be ANYWHERE but near you or helping you or serving you. She is grumpy and NEVER smiles. Also, this time there was a different Sushi Chef who was rather sober and not very engaging. (Sam on the other hand is the bomb) At any rate - I can deal with grumpy staff by tipping accordingly if the food is still bomb but...wait for it.....wait for it.....I can NOT deal with a mouse running like a bat out of hell from the kitchen and into the dining room. Seriously?!?!? What the heck?!?! We were alarmed and sickened and received $9.99 off our OVER $100 sushi bill. I guess $9.99 is the going rate for mice sightings here. GAH-ROSS!!!!!

We've gone twice now and I must say superb service!!!!! This restaurant needs to teach the restaurants around here what customer service is all about!!! They are friendly, fast and always smiling. And the food is wonderful. The noodle dishes, the sushi, everything has been spot on. Very reasonable prices and big portions. No complaints whatsoever. It's refreshing to find a place like this.

Found a new favorite dish here...the Crying Tiger salad!! It's pretty hot, so be careful. Or ask for the milder version. The mix of cabbage, thin slices of beef, cilantro and other goodies, and that dressing is mighty tasty! I've ordered this like the last five times! So, so good!

Every time I have ordered from this place it's always fast. And the service is exceptionally nice. I have been quoted an hour wait for delivery a few times and they showed up in the half hour. Don't believe the hour wait. They maybe busy but it's never an hour. I love everything on the menu. Nothing has ever been gross. Sushi has always been good. Spicy soups are off the hook. And the noodle plates are always good. I can't say why but I like this location better then the on bellflower even though I eat at both of them.

I cannot believe how nice the inside of this restaurant is. Of course Tara's sister and ex-brother in law are working there along with her brother Alex which made feel at home. Unfortunately, they don't make the Prik Nam Plah the way Anond makes it but I would not rate them on that. I enjoyed my chicken larb.

I've been here before for sushi a few times and I used to come here in the late 80's for their tasty and great BBQ chicken... today it was for lunch with a friend. Something went a rye. The BBQ chicken we had was more like a dry BBQ chicken that was put in a sweet teriyaki adobo like sauce appose to being crispy off the barbeque like it used to be. The shrimp fried rice was more like "fried rice with 2 shrimps sitting on top of it and NO shrimp mixed in it all... (really??). I had for dessert some sticky rice with a sweet sauce on it (that was good) with a nice "looking" mango... but the mango tasted way to soft and ripe. AAAAAAAAAaaaaHHH!!! I hate a so-so meal.

Bai Plu has really great food, but their consistency is sometimes questionable. Must Haves: -Pad Thai w/ Shrimp -Chili and Mint Leaves w/ Chicken -Chicken Satay -Red Curry w/ Chicken Pros: -Good service -PHENOMENAL food -Delivers Cons: -Service and food can be inconsistent in quality Quick Tips: -Make sure if you order delivery you give yourself around 40 min -Chicken Satay is great appetizer, don't miss out! -Try the Sticky Rice if you get Red Curry! The food can be really, really good. This is my second most eaten at place in Long Beach. However, over the 50 sometimes I have ordered delivery they have gotten my order incorrect or not up to their great standards around 5 times. Sometimes, phone conversations can also be frustrating, but it is well worth it. My friends that would come visit me always request that I "order in Thai food." For the most part, they don't disappoint. They are my favorite Thai restaurant in Long Beach and have phenomenal food; I just wish they were more consistent.

The 'A' just fell of the Aki Sushi sign here. Fix that, guys! It makes the place look really run down.

Ordered delivery again from these guys very shortly after my original review, and was even more pleasantly surprised. Got the Broccoli and oyster sauce Thai lunch special with beef and fried rice, and asked if they could substitute a spring roll instead of the wontons. Do yourself a favor and do this - the spring roll is fucking phenomenal, and definitely worth sacrificing the two fried wontons that leave something to be desired. The rest of the meal was fabulous as well, the fried rice wasn't greasy and was quite flavorful, the meal itself was perfectly cooked and not dry or rubbery, it wasn't too salty, and I still fit into my pants by the end of the day. I also got the soup instead of the "salad" (which in my last review I said was basically just iceburg lettuce with a pathetic "shredding" of carrots), and asked for the miso instead of the regular soup that normally comes with the meal (apparently it's a spicy soup, and I am a giant pussy so that is no bueno). I need to get at least $15 worth of stuff for delivery, so I opted to get a dessert. I was really disappointed in this one - I wanted ice cream, but the guy said that it was very unlikely that they would be able to deliver this without it melting first (other places have, though, so I don't see why this is such a problem, but whatever). Okay, I said, so I figured I'd try out the sweet mango with sticky rice - "Is it sweet?" I asked, and the guy said yes. OK, what the fuck was this and why was I charged $8.99 for it, RIDICULOUS. It's just sticky rice slightly sweetened (sorta?) with pieces of mango. It came with a side sauce that I believe was made out of coconut milk. The rice was hot, the mango was... room temperature? Anyway. Maybe I just don't get it. It wasn't bad or anything, but definitely not what I would consider a dessert, and again - Why on EARTH is this plate worth EIGHT DOLLARS AND NINETY NINE CENTS?! I mean, sure, I'm super white, I know jack shit about authentic Asian cuisine, and maybe it just wasn't my sort of thing - but $8.99?? ...Really???? I feel pretty ripped off by that. It's rice and mango. It honestly can't cost that much to buy the ingredients for it, it's super highway robbery. I wish they were able to give me the fried ice cream I wanted instead. Aside from that, everything was great. Work on being able to deliver more than just the overpriced "dessert", though, and then it may be deserving of 5 stars.

This has been my regular Thai spot for 4 years now and I am still very happy with their service. The food here is just as good as any local Thai spot, and the prices as very fair for the amount you get. The lunch special is the greatest deal, you get a good entree with their delicious soup and fried wontons. They did raise the price a year ago to $6.99 for the lunch, but I would much rather pay the extra dollar than have their quality suffer like other places locally. You cannot go wrong here, it is the best choice in Long Beach for convenient and delicious Thai food, and if you get in the mood for sushi they have you covered as well.

A real odd combination of Thai & Japanese food. Whenever my friends & I go to eat here, we stick to the Thai food (even though I absolutely love sushi). Overall, the food is delicious. From the pineapple friend rice, tom yum soup, to the crying tiger, they will please your palate. But there are two specific dishes at this restaurant that are bold & are quite interesting (if you love trying new things.) I'm talking about the beef jerky & the Kung Chare Num Pla. When I say beef jerky, I'm not referring to the jerky we are all accustomed to eating. At Baiplu, they deep fry the jerky & add a sauce to give it a nice smokey & savory flavor. The texture is definitely interesting because the cooking method reconstitutes the jerky & injects a load of flavor into it. The second dish is the Kung Chare Num Pla aka raw prawns in a spicy sauce. Ok, I'm Japanese & I always eat raw fish, but NEVER raw prawns. Was a bit nervous at first about this dish, but I tried it since it was something new. To my surprise, the dish was pretty good. The spicy sauce & the crunch of the cabbage went well with the raw prawns. Great food, friendly service, & at a reasonable price.

Came here for lunch the other day and had their pad see ew. It was by far the best I've had in a long, long time. Also had their jasmine tea, which was delightful. Our waitress was attentive and sweet. The restaurant didn't have a cozy environment or anything, not a lot of personality there but that's okay. Not all restaurants have to be adorable (I suppose). Steered clear of the sushi because they had posted in their window something about food temperature violations??? So I think I'll just stick to the cooked stuff for now.

I'm not sure what you people are smoking b/c this place sucked! I ordered delivery which took about an hour (acceptable for 640pm order time on a Friday night ). I requested one of the house specialties, # 61. Chili Garlic and Mint Leave Most Popular Stir-fried meat with spicy fresh chili, garlic and mint leaves. I ordered medium spice. The beef was as dry as jerky and the medium was soooo HOT so that I could barely taste the mint and garlic even with the sweet back ground of brown rice (which I'll give 3 stars b/c it was al dente). My #61 also included 2 green beans which are not part of the mix as per menu. I also requested an order of deep fried pork wontons, which came with NO PORK at all, they were merely fried wonton skins flavored with pork fat and sesame oil. I am beyond disappointed and will never give this place a 2nd chance.

The sushi is good. I'm a very picky eater. The thai food is excellent! Try the curry. If i eat sushi in long beach, this is usually where i'll end up since I live downtown. Any place that is better is by 2nd street or on pch closer to O.C.

There really isn't anything special to say about this place, other than it has two of my most favorite asian cuisines under one roof. But that doesn't make it my go-to for when I'm really craving sushi or Thai food. The quality of the food is not bad, but it's not the freshest you can get, especially with the other choices you have available around you in Long Beach. Pros: + Ample seating + TV above the sushi bar for entertainment + Friendly and fast service Cons: - Sushi is inventive, but not the freshest - Thai food is expensive comparatively - Very bright interior: no charm To try: *I did like the crispy pork with garlic and basil. Add broccoli and mushrooms, because it tends to be a little heavy.

My favorite dishes from Bai Plu are always packed with flavor: Rad na, pad si ew and Noodle Delight. My orders tend to be prepared quickly. Pricewise, it's expensive but typical of Thai restaurants in the area. For the Japanese side, the sushi rolls are knee-to-the-crotch painfully expensive! While the food is great, I don't care for the location and the customer service at times. I ate in and it was difficult to get the server's attention when I needed the bill or additional items for my order. I would wave my arms as if I got tossed off a boat and was unable to swim yet I still got ignored. Due to this grating experience I tend to order from home. It's one of the few Thai places that does deliver but I do wish they didn't have a $15 minimum. If you want decent Thai food in a fancy atmosphere with patient, polite and attentive customer service-stick to Bai Plu's Bellflower Blvd location.

Service started out a tad slow, but they were filled up. The Jan Pu was amazing! (fried rice noodles, egg, crab and green onion). I cannot wait to have this again, soon! The ahi tuna roll i sampled was delicious and fresh!

Very good Thai food...I haven't tried the sushi, but I hear It's good. Friendly staff, nice environment, always a pleasure visiting. Angel wings appetizers are delish!, we always order lemon fish, pad Thai, and their menu has something for everyone. Me and my friends love it.

Dont let the location of this place fool you, because if you do, you will be missing out on some great food. I love Thai, Sushi and anything Asian motivated. This place is definitely a great place to go with friends and eat, laugh, joke and no one looks at you crazy because you ae too loud. The service is great, because the attentive nature of the staff was amazing. The food is reasonably priced and even in a budget, I can go there and have a great feast. The lunch specials are great and the Thai Ice Tea may be limited, but wherever I go, I never get free refills on that one. I went to the new one on Bellflower Blvd and that one is a little more upper scaled, if you wanna dress up for a nice date. GREAT FOOD AND WONDERFUL SERVICE.

This has become one my favorite restaurants. If I lived closer I would be here twice a week. Their menu is extensive since they serve Sushi and Thai food. Their sushi rolls are amazing and creative. Personal favorite the Lakers roll, and yellowtail sashimi is always fresh and oh so delicious. But my weakness is their hot plates. The spicy shrimp soup with mushrooms and that lemon flavor is my favorite thing to order. I just can't stop eating it. Beef pad see ew is great as well as the shrimp pad thai. They are pretty big portions so heads up if you are ordering more than one entree for yourself. Another winner is the crying tiger. Sliced steak, cooked to personal taste with this amazing chili and lime dipping sauce. Their staff is extremely welcoming and friendly I've taken my 4 year old daughter (who doesn't eat a thing) and there's always a server that will make small talk with her, give her fortune cookies and take her to their beautiful fish tank to say hi to "Nemo". If I had to complain is that their booths are pretty small, if they sit 4 people in one, the space is tight to eat comfortably and not mention the lack of room on the table for all the food! But totally worth it. Do yourself a favor and swing by if you are ever in the area. You won't regret it!

I LOVE this place. Before Baiplu, I was not a big fan of Thai food. Admittedly, it was probably because I didn't know what to order. Here's the low down: Their War Wonton soup is ridiculous! I've had many a War Wonton soup and they've all been Chinese. Baiplu puts a little something extra in theirs that sets it off. I will never have War Wonton soup anywhere else! Be prepared b/c it comes in large only (serves 4+ people). Spicy fried rice: Delicious! Completely different flavor than the regular fried rice. The trick is to specify the level of spiciness to your liking/tolerance. I mean, this is Thai food, it can get SPICY as a MF! Noodles: Pad See Ew (with your choice of meat) is extremely flavorful and NOT spicy! Highly recommended! Also the Spicy Noodle is great if you want a spicy alternative. So many great flavors, but again, specify your level of desired spiciness! Their sushi bar is pretty decent. Rolls are very fresh and delicious but I would skip the oysters on a half shell. On that note, forget about the orange chicken too. Super friendly staff and great service. You cannot go wrong. I would skip their other location on Bellflower though: too much pretense and sub par everything else. 7th street is where it's at!

Been coming here for years. We get greeted like family! Food is yummy. It's not a hit and miss. Most dishes are great, but somehow we always order our favorites and rarely try something new. Their noodle soups are good, make sure you ask them for the hot sauce tray (not the one on the table the other one). That sauce is amazing to dip or put into your noodle soup. I'm not sure what it's called but it has garlic, pepper, sugar, lime.... Just try it, you'll know what I mean.

What a great concept. Combine two delicious cuisines (Japanese and Thai) under one roof. Only problem is, the quality and quantity of the food has gone downhill as Baiplu/Aki's popularity has grown. The sushi here is ok, but it's the Americanized sushi-- massive rolls, drenched in so much sauce you can't even taste the fish. The Thai food is pretty good. I found it strange when we ordered a curry and the waiter asked us if we wanted rice. Well, of course! We're not going to eat the curry like it's a soup! Oh, well. And if you're white (like me) and order the salted fish rice (which is soooo delicious), they will give you a weird look and warn you that it's going to smell, and are you sure you want to order it? Oh, yes. I am darn tootin' sure. Their salted fish rice is pure heaven. Parking can be a big problem. If you park in the parking lot, you will either 1. get blocked in by someone who parked right behind you, or 2. jammed in the back of the lot and blocked by the person parked in front of some other cars. It's best to drive your beat up car and park it on one of the side streets. It will blend in with the neighborhood. :)

I came here over the weekend and it was great. I did not try the Thai food but what we ordered tasted good. They have this sparkling sake that also tasted good. I would definitely go back. Try the Tempura Vegetable Bowl it was the best.

We love this place! It has to be one of my favorite spots in Long Beach. There is a lot to choose from; the sushi is very fresh. We usually sit at the bar when we have sushi and rafael is the best! He is super sweet and usually takes saki shots with us..just for kicks! Their soups are the business and lets not mention the seeweed and octopus salad!!! I totally heart this place. If oyu guys are in the area stop by and have their food, you won't regret it!

My bosses took me here for lunch after we went out for a business meeting. It wasn't that great of a place. I thought at first, yum!! Japanese and Thai food under one roof?!?! Woohoo! What a neat idea! The parking lot is small, and the restaurant is tiny. They have one side for Japanese food and the other side for Thai food. The decor was decent and the restaurant seemed clean. The staff was really nice and friendly too. We sat at the Thai food side because the place was packed and there was no where else to sit. This place is popular and gets a lot of the business people coming in for lunch. I had their chicken pad thai with rice and a glass of thai iced tea. It wasn't all that great. Their pad thai was bland and lacked a lot of flavor. Just from the look of it, you can tell that they didn't add enough spices or whatever it is that you add to your food to make it taste good. Their thai iced tea was very watered down and it didn't taste right either. My bosses love to go there and they got the glass noodles. I tasted a little bit of their food and it was just ok. I don't think it would be a place that I would recommend for people to go and eat at. We all had Thai food though. I hear that their Japanese food is pretty good there too, but the Thai food that I had there kind of gives me second thoughts about going back. Is it worth giving it another shot?!?! Maybe the day will come when we'll find ourselves in there again. As for now, I say blech, not all that great. I've had much better!

Some family was in town for a visit...we were starving and needed some yummy nutrition... ahhh..Baiplu it is! We have been going to this restaurant for as long as I have lived in LB and always forget to write a review.. I think they have one of the best Thai food that I have ever tasted..great and fresh quality and generous portion for a moderately priced menu.. The staff is friendly and are very quick. We've never had to wait for a table. During this visit we had shrimp egg roll and fried tofu to start..we inihilated these appetizers.. For our main courses, we had the pad thai, yellow curry with chicken and sauteed string beans. When my family does not speak during dinner, its mean good grubbing... My only complaint of this place is parking and being on busy 7th Street..

Decent sushi and decent Thai food. We had both when we went here. The prices and service were fair. I wouldn't say that this is the best Thai or Japanese restaurant in Long Beach, but if you want choices and you are okay with a decent yet average meal, then this is the spot. Don't get me wrong, the food is not bad. It's just not good enough to overwhelm me. This is more of your staple restaurant. When you're craving Japanese or Thai food, you come here when you have no other options. I know that doesn't sound inviting, but this spot is really okay (Hmm, why do I keep coming back to mediocre words?!).

Have you ever been with a group of friends that feel like eating one particular thing and you had something else in mind. Well Aki Sushi Bar has you covered. Its like you stepped in to two different restaurants. They specialize in both Thai food and Sushi and I have to say both are outstanding. The Sushi is some of the best that i have ever had, really fresh and the price is reasonable. I recommend the Salmon Sushi or the Rainbow Roll. The Thai food is equally outstanding. I recommend getting the Pineapple Duck Curry with some steamed rice. Something else to take into consideration is the Sushi chefs, these guys are cool as hell and they tend to get a little rowdy. So if you and your buddies want to drink some Asahi and some Saki, these is not a bad spot to do it in. Pros: Sushi and Thai food is some of the best i have ever had. Prices are reasonable and the Sushi bar area is good location for you and your buddies to knock back a few. Cons: The place is a little small and the area is not that great.

This place is amazing!!! Try the laker roll! The fish is fresh the sauce is just the right kind of spicy. The soy beans as an appetizer are delish! surprisingly good find! my family is visiting from out of town and had told me about this restaurant they used to visit years ago that served thai AND sushi... they didn't remember the name, only where it was located. thanks to yelp, i was able to track it down and off we went! We ordered the deep fried trout, pad thai w chicken, lakers roll and rainbow roll. the deep fried trout to my surprise was delicious! i'm not a huge fan of fish, especially when cooked asian style but this place has changed my outlook. it wasn't oily considering it was deep fried. it wasn't flaky nor dry. a sauce mixture comes with the dish and provides an extra layer of taste with shreds of mango, cashews, and a light spiciness. goes great with a side of steamed white rice. pad thai was good. we ordered it with chicken and it was good as well. tender and juicy bite sized pieces. just an average dish made the customary way... nothing stood out to make it a must have item to come back for. lakers roll tasted great. it was pretty saturated with 3 different sauces... some may not like that b'coz it takes away from savoring the fresh fish... but i on the other hand thoroughly enjoyed it! rainbow roll. just your typical rainbow roll. it was fresh and delicious. one of my favorite standard rolls. like i said... this was a good find and i surprisingly enjoyed our meal for my first experience. i would consider returning again if i'm ever in the area to try other items on the menu.

I love the sushi bar, they always have fresh tasting fish, and an amazing happy hour menu. Every roll you get tastes delicious. I am usually here once a week or order delivery. Even the delivery is quick and if i order hot items they arrive warm. Today UNFORTUNATELY, i ordered my favorite roll, the Godzilla roll, and bit into a staple! I called and asked for a manager, he said he was one, and i explained the situation. He proceeded to tell me it must have fallen off of the bag into my food. Sorry to say - but each roll (when ordered through take-out) is in individual closed boxes stacked ontop of each other. This particular roll was on the bottom of the stack. Therefore, i dont believe it could had fallen onto my roll. Either way, he had asked if i wanted a new roll and i politely refused, i was more worried about the next customer who may crack a tooth on a mistake like this. Maybe if the 'manager' was more sympathetic to a customer who spends money every week there i would have given more stars. Or he could hace mentioned his name. Love this sushi spot. But, VERY dissapointed in the customer service.

The place for me is like a 6 year old going to Disney World.... I know I'm going and I'm super excited but I can't enjoy all the rides (eat all the food). The concept of Thai and Sushi under the same roof is awesome to a fella like myself. Every time we go to Long Beach my goal is to eat here. The food is great..... PERIOD...to me! The customer service is good. It takes awhile to get your order. When it comes the Thai dishes are hot (if they are supposed to be) and the sushi has generous amounts of fish on them. Parking.... is minimal at best. They have 10 parking spaces. But hey it is not a big deal, take time and chill you'll have a great meal.

One day I called to place an order for delivery and the person whom I was speaking to was being rude and hung up on me right after he asked for my address, etc. The thai ice tea is $3 (says on the menu) and he wants to charge me $5.50 for it. Why?? Plus this delivery man would also say rude comments when he stops by my door, asking for tip and so on... The food is good but dealing with this kind of service? I really don't know anymore.

Very rude customer service!! Server Fai (stating my receipt), I'm assuming is the delivery guy driving a black Honda dropped off my food. They had trouble locating my unit and the rudely said "next time you should try answering your phone I've been waiting an hour (not true)....called you 30 times blah blah blah." I was being scorned by a delivery guy, wow!My guess is, he's the owners kid hence why he gets away with it considering I'm not the only one experiencing this. Am I the only one who thinks it's ironic only women have reviewed to have this problem ? Hmm. They more I think of it, the more of a punk I think he is. Apart from that, the portions are very small for the price. Pad Thai wasn't great, the chicken had a bland taste. The lollipop roll didn't have fresh jalapeños, they came with what I believe to be vinegar jalapeños from a can (so not worth the 12$), the jalapeño bomb was more of a disappointment, I get that it was soggy from the drive but it tasted like flour and cream cheese and only 2 for 5$ I give the food a generous 3 (mainly because I've had a good experience in the past) however I bring it down to a 2because of the lack of value and lower it to 0 for the rude delivery man, because there's nothing like paying 50$ for low quality and quantity to only get yelled at by an employee AND find out via yelp, it's a reoccurring situation that the place is doing nothing to resolve. Overall I would never order from again! I would recommend a place however in fear of getting flagged, will not for my hope is to warn as many hungry people out there !

Sorry this update is so soon after my first one! I ate here twice since my first time, and I like this place a whole lot more now! The service is a little bit better this time too! I've been getting their japanese foods the last few times. -Hula roll: it has mango! I usually don't like eating mango, but this place makes me like it! TRY THIS ONE -Spicy tuna: was just okay -Their salad that comes with bento box: good! -Tempura: GOOD -Their teriyaki chicken: just okay -Miso soup: same as any other miso soup I've tried -Laker roll: Amazing !!!!!!! GET THIS ONE -something "popcorn" shrimp roll: I liked it -Crunch roll: was just okay I also found out that they have this deal on Wednesdays that if you buy two Special rolls, you get one special roll for free!

From the outside, Bai Plu doesn't look appealing at all with its gray exterior. However, when you walk in, it's like a "wow". My first impression was, Thai and Sushi...Say what?!? I didn't get to try the sushi but my coworker said it was good....next time! **Lunch Combo Specials: $6.99!** Your choice of meat (beef, chicken, pork) or tofu cooked in the sauce or curry of your choice, soup/salad, steamed/fried rice & two fried wontons. *Soup: I'm not a fan of tom yum but this was pretty good. It came with mushrooms and a couple of pieces of chicken. *Garlic Pepper Beef: the beef was a lil tough and the sauce was too salty. *Fried rice: Not bad *Fried wontons: it should be called fried skins! There was no filling, just deep fried wonton skin, Bleh. *Beef pad see ew: OK. This version wasn't dried like the other ones i've tried. It reminded me of Chinese beef chow fun but sweeter. There were generous amounts of meat, tofu and veggies. Service: Good, drinks were refilled without asking. Parking: Lot next to the restaurant

I love Bai-Plu. Their Thai food is delicious, and being able to get sushi (even though I only eat veggie sushi) is an added bonus. I'm branching out and trying new things on the menu. The tofu with young ginger was amazing. From the Aki Sushi side, I love the Healthy Roll. The menu is huge, and my husband, who can't handle spicy at all, loves the Chop Suey Soup. We've been here many times, and also ordered food delivered at home, and have always been happy.

Still using Baiplu for Thai. The food is usually fine (our beef jerky tasted old this time) but the delivery service has become slow. It used to be fast, now, lucky if I get my order in an hour. Have had to call more than once. Take-out is OK, but still get the feeling, like others, that they don't care. Thai Gourmet Sri Maya have begun to deliver. Give them a try. They are slow, too, but all food is made to order, so I expect it.

Ordered delivery off of EAT24. Driver took 90 minutes and called me 4 or 5 times before finding my place, because of the frustration and because the tip was included already he knocked and left the bag on my doorstep. The rolls were smaller than dine in and the quality was ok, but later when I asked for some kind of compensation from EAT24 the manager refused (i'd ordered from this place a few times before). He could've offered me a free roll or something on my next order costing him all of $2 in food costs and saved a customer. Pennywise and pound foolish. I don't want to mention that the manager is probably from a foreign country but its worth mentioning because if someone was doing business in America for awhile they'd know that if a customer has a bad time you offer them something to make up for it, saving that customer and your reputation (a post like this). If they cut corners on basic customer service i'd imagine they'd cut corners in other areas too.

LOCAL PAD SEE EW LOVERS LOOK NO FURTHER! YOUR SEARCH FOR GOOD PAD SEE EW IS FINALLY OVER!!!! HOORAY!!! If you're like me you tend to base a Thai restaurant's entire standing on whether the Pad See Ew is good or not. Unfortunately I have not been able to find a good Pad See Ew here in the Long Beach/Cerritos area until now! Ordered this bad baby togo via phone by chance since no other Thai restaurants were open past 10pm. It really was my lucky day! Noodles are cooked well, ample pieces of meat, broccoli, and chunks of scrambled egg all stirred together in the always simple but flavorful sauce. I see some people complaining that the broccoli was a bit bitter but that's the way Chinese broccoli is supposed to be people! I always ask for a side of crushed peanuts to mix in to give it more texture and they were happy to give it to me. Another thing about Thai food? It should ALWAYS be less than $9 for a plate of Pad See Ew. I don't care if you have good Pad See Ew but if you are charging me $11 for it I won't bother. Here it is just under $8, score!

Best Thai restaurant in Long Beach. Enough said. But if you want to hear more, their glass noodles are amazing. I also love their green salmon curry. Their sushi is amazing too I'm just a little skeptic of raw fish, but if it's your thing you'll love it. p.s. maybe they blast the AC to keep the sushi fresh but I'd suggest you bring a jacket.

Food is decent but we won't be coming here again. DELIVERY guy refuses to come to the apartment door. That just doesn't make sense. SUSHI rolls fall apart, not well made.

So it was a beautiful Thursday afternoon where happy hour was great and now its just ok. I had taken my mother to her weekly doctors appt. and was craving sushi. The food was good and the service was okay. But the part that got to me was we had six people in our party and we had gotten three separate bills and once we received them there was a tip added to our bills after our food was added up, for instance my friends till came out to $60.35 but when she received the sign off for her credit card it was later $70.35. its one thing if a place charged gratuity for a group but no where does it tell us that and even so why give one price and add it to the till later. To me that's just a spit in the face as if we weren't kind enough to tip on our own.

Japanese food and Thai food at one place, one stop! The owner is Japanese and the Kitchen manager is from Thailand so it can't go wrong!! Thy have weekday specials so would always check their special before going here! Such as Wednesday, but one roll get one free etc...

This is (BY FAR!) my favorite sushi spot! Love the sushi and the wide variety on the menu. Rafa and Kaz, the sushi chefs, are always fun. We always are sure to tip them with some sake or beer. You've gotta try the Snow White Roll and have Rafa make you the Mexican Roll (which isn't on the menu). The only thing that makes me sad is that we moved away from Long Beach and now it's too far for delivery to us. We haven't found a comparable sushi spot near or in San Pedro. Love love love it!

Five stars for sushi delivery! I've always wanted to get it delivered. It was really fast too. The food was great and everything came packed perfectly. Will definitely be ordering more from here. :)

I love this place! I am a frequent customer not only for dine in but delivery. I like having something delicious to eat along with my sushi that is not the ordinary teriyaki they serve at sushi restaurants. I've tried many of their dishes and they've all been yummy. Service is good and fast.

Many Asian restaurants have been hit or miss since I've been in L.A. Mostly miss. So I wasn't sure what to expect upon my arrival at Baiplu. The only thing I knew is that I had a mad craving for Thai. My best friend had recommended the place several times, on our first attempt to go, it was so packed, and there was no parking whatsoever, so we ended up deciding to wait on another day. When we did finally decide to try again, we did find parking in the side lot. My first impression was based on the opinion is that any place with ample customers is usually always a good sign. And this place is always packed. We arrive and are very promptly seated. Once we settled in, they took our order and the food was brought to us in a very timely manner. We tried the Orange chicken, Chicken skewers with peanut sauce, Fried wontons, Gyoza (pot stickers) and rice. The food was delicious! I couldn't stop eating. lol And my 6 yr old was gaga over everything as well. So it was a win/win situation. At the end of the meal we had decided to also try the fried green tea ice cream, split amongst the 3 of us. And it was divine! I am excited to try more from the menu on future visits, and they have quite a selection to choose from, so this could take a while :)

Decided to make a trip here for lunch for the first time. I have to say that the servers were definitely on their A games. Not sure if they are always like this or b/c there were only a few ppl but they did an amazing job. I ordered a bento lunch special with tuna roll and a lemonade. The roll was a bit small but tasted delicious. The teriyaki beef was cooked okay and soup was mediocre. Overall pretty affordable, only $12 for everything, including salad and miso soup. Service was quick and the best I've had in a long time. coming back again to try something from their thai menu.

I really like sushi, I also really like Thai food, so I always meant to come to this place eventually. It's close to where I live, but I am usually hesitant about fusion places, because more often than not it seems they do multiple things in a mediocre way rather than a few things really well. I was pleasant surprised when I came here. The food was actually really good, I have Pad Thai and a sushi roll. The Pad thai came in the style that the ingredients are separate and then you mix them together. I thought it was done really well, I ordered Tofu and the tofu wasn't disgusting. It's surprising how many places mess up tofu, but this place didn't. The Sushi roll was also very decent. I liked the way it tasted. It was nicely packaged and it was a good crunchy roll, though admittedly I didn't chose the most adventurous of rolls. The service was pretty decent here, the people were nice enough , and it was prompt, I can't say I have any real complaints about the place. In totally I actually really liked this place, I would probably consider going back in the future.

Dear God I love this place. I get delivery from here 3-4 times a month. I've never actually been inside the restaurant, but the delivery service is AMAZING. The food is always hot and fresh, the order gets delivered super fast, and the delivery drivers are surprisingly nice. I always get a mix of Thai and Japanese in my order and I've never been disappointed. So good!

  • Sierra B.

Delivery is speedy and the food is good for the most part, sometimes better than others. I normally get the pad thai with shrimp and yellow curry with chicken and white rice. Portions are pretty huge so one order can normally be split between 2 or 3 people, depending on how hungry you are. Although it isn't the best thai food in the world, it definitely does the trick.

My co-workers and I ordered for delivery for lunch (yellow curry, a chicken dish, sticky rice with mango, & chow mein) since we don't have time to leave our building - only 30 min. lunch. We were all happy with our dishes and the quick delivery. Will defn order from here again.

We stumbled upon this fantastic little place while visiting Long Beach a few years ago. We ended up eating there 3 times during our 6 day trip! Now anytime we are in Orange County, Anaheim, or LA, we stop by and enjoy this place! We tell all of our friends who are visiting the area to stop by if they're around. They've got Thai, Chinese, Japanese, and sushi. Whatever Asian/Thai entrees you like to eat, it's probably on their menu. We've never had a bad meal yet! Highly recommend! P.S. They have a second location elsewhere in long beach with the same name, but it's not quite 100% as good as this, the original, location.

Always satisfied with this place and love the setting so I love to always dine in. Sometimes it's super cold in here (for the seafood and sanitary reasons) so bring a sweater! They have great deals, look for them!

Ever since this placed has opened I had been a constant returning customer because I actually really liked the Thai food. I went today and found 3 baby cockroaches at the bottom of the rice container and told the waitress immediately. She grabbed a napkin and killed it on the table and took the rice away to bring out a new one. Did not offer to clean the table or see if we wanted a refund. My sister and I maintained our composure. She was done eating, I tried to eat further but couldn't bring myself to. The check was brought out with 10% off. Need I say more? Never going to this location anymore. I hope the one on bellflower doesn't have these same issues.

Really good Thai food. When you ask for extra spicy, they actually listen. Really good spicy noodles and fried rice. The crying tiger is good. Delivery was super fast, like 15 mins. Def some of the better Thai I've had in the area.

  • aj S.

I love the spicy fried rice, medium spicy with chicken and the portion is huge, I mean it's rice no reason to skimp. The sushi is so-so and the service is either really slow or over bearing. Last time we ate there the wait staff was literally lined up watching us eat and refilling our water after 2 sips. Maybe they thought we were gonna leave a big tip??? Delivery driver needs to come to the door, every time, he just calls from my apartment intercom, I'm like "just push *special code* and I'll buzz you in!" - every.timeuh.

Late post++I will never go back to this place. I went with a friend for dinner. Come to find it, we had another guest with us in the booth... it was a damn cockroach! It made me sick to my stomach... I couldn't finish my rolls. Bleh!

SO I have mixed reviews about this place... The food is cheap, convenient and delicious. My husband and I often order they food for delivery and it always comes with out a hitch. The problem lies in the staff... THEY. ARE. ATROCIOUS. The last time we went there it was for lunch. We walk in and received no greeting at all.. The woman just pointed and grunted where we should sit... ok.... that's fine, odd but fine We sit down, a man walks over and takes our order and we ask for waters. The same woman who rudely greeted us walks up and says "Can you move" with attitude as she goes to put them down. We weren't even blocking the way? We were both taken-a-back by this, it is a basic thing to smile and say excuse me. So as a recap, one woman seated us, one man took our order, the same (rude) woman who seated us brings out waters Now, a different woman brings out lunch, we eat our food which is good as usual, but find that we are completely ignored the entire time. It's odd even. After we were done eating we sat for at least 10 minutes (obviously completely done), I ended up having to basically yell across the restaurant saying "EXCUSE ME! Can you have someone PLEASE bring us our check ?!?! We've been sitting here for like 10 minutes being ignored" The woman who brought us our food proceeded to tell me that there aren't sections and we could have flagged down anyone?!?! Like it is our responsibility to request we are waited on?! I told her, "Oh great that means that we were being ignored by everyone, not just you". She obviously saw I was mad and she was in the wrong but didn't respond at all. We paid and left very upset with the entire ordeal-a quick lunch with my husband was sadly a disappointment. I have never ever not left a tip for service in my life but that was one of the most ridiculous experiences I have ever had. They were straight up rude, I couldn't believe it. Order them delivery- stay out of the restraunt.

My uncle and aunt love this place, they come from San Diego and say that whenever they come to Los Angeles, they always have Thai food here. I love Thai food, so I ordered a papaya salad - spicy. I didn't know Thai spicy was so spicy - I spent most of my time drinking water! The servers were generous, but one of the older female servers looked very grumpy. We ordered: Spicy Papaya Salad - delicious, but ask for it mild or not spicy at all! Beef Tendon Noodle Soup - broth was fantastic! Not too salty, but definitely full of flavor. I also liked the choice of rice noodles with this. Beef was braised very well, it was tender.. and of course the tendons made for a delicious, chewy texture. Century Egg, Meat w/ Fried Basil - interesting new dish for me, I have never had this! It was an odd combination, but interestingly the flavors work very well with each other. Some fried basil for crisp! Fried Pork w/ Chinese Broccoli - This dish was okay, the greens were cooked well. Still crunchy, but didn't give that "raw" taste. Fried pork became rubbery because it was also stir-fried in sauce after. Crazy Roll - ? I forgot the name, but it was avocado with tempura. It was okay. I don't think I would drive all the way to Long Beach to have it, but it's one of the tasty and affordable Thai restos that I've been to!

Good place to come with a big group.. my favorite dish they have is the beef tendon soup and the garlic spare ribs.... Everything else was mediocre... I was disappointed when we ordered sticky rice - it came out hard..like it was a day old and they reheated it... I would come back to check out their sushi menu and happy hour...

Living Social hit the spot. BUT today's lunch was kind of a miss. It was really uncharateristic of Baiplu to serve up Pad Thai with some hard uncooked rice noodles (still a bit raw). The Siu Mai (dumplings) are 4 small tiny pieces of flour and some meat (disappointed) and my Cashew Chicken lunch special wasn't too bad. I like Baiplu, but don't lose your edge. Keep up the good work as I will be coming back again in the near future...and hopefully to up my ratings back up for you. Stick with the Baiplu off of Bellflower for now.

What's the point of calling in your takeout order when you get there and still have to wait! She placed my order over the phone she was very rude and impatient. Once I got there I had to wait another 25 minutes. I honestly think they placed my order after I got there lol. This wasn't the first time either. I've called in to order stuff and literally hung up because of the same rude impatient lady. They really need someone else to take phone orders.

Best Thai food in Long Beach!!!! I love the anything they make with spicy basil, whether it's the fried rice, chow mein or the the spicy chicken. The Thai ice tea's are the perfect combination of sweet and milky. Both locations are really good.

Ordered for pick up. We had 2 crying tigers (its a few slices of beef with half a head of lettuce just tossed onto the side. Very expensive. Good sauce though. We also ordered some beef soup, which was okay. The best part of the meal was the iced thai tea haha. Our bill was $50. I guess I would come back if there weren't other places open. Customer service was not very good at all. Had to ask for my receipt. Eh :/

Crab fried rice, the rest is good too but don't forget Crab fried rice! Service was fast, food was fresh. Lots of variety and choices to choose from. Thai food is authentic and fishy like it should be so don't expect anything less. I didn't get to try the sushi but my friends enjoyed it.

  • Daniel K.

Their food is delicious. I usually order a noodle dish with some sushi on the side. I've only ordered through deliver (which, omg, there's delivery sushi! YES!!) so I'll only talk on that experience. I definitely recommend the pad see ew. It's my favorite dish to order from there. Their sushi isn't too bad either. No it's not the best sushi in town, but when I'm stuck at home researching or writing my paper and I get a sushi craving, the fact that I can have it delivered to me is pretty amazing. The only reason I'm knocking off a star is because the last two times I've ordered delivery they got my order wrong. It was always a small detail, but it does get annoying. I order a plate extra spicy and it comes to me bland as hell. I order a shrimp pad see ew and they give me beef. I mean, it was still delicious, just not what I ordered. They're pretty good about fixing things though.

Ordered delivery last Saturday after a long day of work. It said online delivery would be 45-60 minutes. Order was placed at 6:19pm and had still not arrived 2 hours later!!!! I called a few times and was told over and over 5 more minutes! Well, after 2 hours I finally had enough and called to cancel. After being passed around to 3 different people to cancel, I was treated like I was beyond unreasonable for cancelling. My credit card was still charged and I had to call to get a refund. BIG NO NO!!!

Nice, clean location, friendly staff. They have lots of daily deals so there's always a bargain. Check the Chef's recommendation board- they actually recommend great stuff. The Thai portion is great if the sushi doesn't fill you up. Good food. Affordable. Great value. Worth a try.

My favorite spot to come to for sushi and Thai food. This place never let's me down. The food is always consistent, the service is always great and there's a daily happy hour, even on weekends! Take advantage of the pint beers! $3 for happy hour. Sushi here is superb and always flavorful. The chef always has a couple of great recommendations up on his chalk board, so if you're a sushi novice go with that. And if its not up there, definitely consider getting a Dragon Roll and Lakers Roll! They have a small selection of wines and sake here too - recommend their premium Kurosawa Sake. No traditional cocktails here. The choice of Thai food is vast and can take some time looking through it. Parkings on the side and the place is never overly crowded. I've never had to wait to be seated. Great flavors leave you coming back for more!

Went here to try the Pork Jerky my friends just knew I would love--and I was not disappointed. I'm Thai and grew up eating pork and beef jerky, which my mom would air dry under the sun and then deep fry, and this totally took me back to my mom's. Chewy, sweet, salty, fatty--it's what you want. It looks unassuming compared to other things on the menu, but you don't want to miss it. It comes with a smoky, spicy sauce (na jim) that makes it all the better. I would normally never go to a sushi/thai food joint--it usually mean that they do both things badly--but this place is spot on. I didn't have the sushi, but the rest of the Thai food we had was incredible. We also had the beef tendon soup which was so savory and filled with tender meat and tendon. The broth has aromatic, cinnamon notes in it which I just love. We also had the crispy pork stew with chili, basil and garlic which is the epitome of the Thai salty/sweet/herbaceous/sour combination that I miss so often. I live in Santa Barbara and wish we had something even close to this here. It's totally reasonable for its quality, and totally authentic if you know what to order. I would suggest only ordering off of the "wild things" portion of the menu, in order to avoid the more Americanized versions of Thai food, if that's what your looking for.

The food is genuinely good but the sitting area is a little tight with small booths. Price is kind of high but they do offer daily discounts. The only thing I kond of dont like is that the drinks are served in cans at the price of a fountain drink and they charge per can. So in conclusion it is a nice place if your looking to pay for it.

The area isn't great, but this place is really good and reasonable priced. They're friendly and remember you. The sushi is delicious and the Pad Thai is good - we tried most of the Special Rolls and loved every single one. I'm addicted to the Spicy Scallop hand rolls.

solid thai food - huge menu that includes lots of jap food , from sushi rolls to teriyaki. came at 8:30pm on a friday night, lots of people but we found a lucky spot in the really small and awkward parking lot. I did my research and got a 15% coupon from their website YAY. **must print it out we ordered: 1. poke salad- i got this bc our waiter said it was his fave thing to eat, turned out wasn't really poke salad, it was tuna chunks on top of a pile of crunchy cumcumbers (yum) with soy-based sauce drizzled over everything. not bad, just not poke, and the tune pieces were bland and a little boring. cucumbers were the better part of this. 2. pad see ew- w/chicken- my go-to fave thing to order at any thai place, the flavor was good and they were generous with the amount of chicken, but the chinese broccoli in it was a little old and therefore bitter 3. squid w/.... i dont remember what it was called but it was stir fried squid and basil with spicy sauce - SO good, not too salty, perfectly cooked squid (bc everyone knows its so easy to overdo it and get chewy rubbery squid) 4. an order of rice - good consistency/texture - and rice is ordered a la carte - doesnt come with curry like most thai places 5. a crunchy suchi roll. dont know the name but it had shrimp tempura inside, and was crunchy on the outside, drizzled with sauce. on the basic side for these specialty rolls but pretty good. id order it again. during happy hour sushi special. so not for the usual $12 price tag 6. a large singha total bill - $42 including taxes, with the discount already applied. we (2 ppl) ate a ton and still had leftovers for lunch :)

GREAT food TERRIBLE portions. I probably wont come back because EVERY Thai food place i've ever gone to had so much MORE food at a cheaper price. It's almost not worth it unless you're eating alone. I went with three people. Any other place we could have shared three plates. Here, everyone was still hungry. You would have to order a lot of food, which is convenient especially for the prices they have. If you want taste and have an unlimited budget, come here because their food taste AMAZINGGG!!!! But if you want good portions and decent prices go elsewhere.

My hubby and I absolutely LOVE the Sushi here!!! Always fresh! Try the Lakers Roll and Sweet Girl Roll... Absolute Delish! I've never tried the Thai but the place is always packed! Service is great and waiter/waitress are ALWAYS attentive, even on the busy days! :) Happy Repeat Customer :)

Picy been a Saturday regular for over a year. We love their Currys mainly red with either chicken or pork. Right balance of spice coconut milk and sweetness. Best. Their soups are pretty good. All their noodle dishes are excellent including pat thai and pat see yew. I have tried their crab noodle last time and loved it except for their crab meat. Didn't taste like it was prepared that day and portoon was small. I tried their fried fish. They are good but sauce is a bit weak even the garlic fried fish. BTW thai diner BBQ on willow has the BEST spicy fried fish. Service is VERY VERY GOOD AND FRIENDLY. Oh food is generally a but salty so I always request low sodium. Use their 10% coupon on website

Overall, I was not that impressed. Service was fine, absolutely no complaints here. Nothing really noteworthy about it- but just fine and quick enough. Place was also clean and fairly inviting (with the exception of one douche that was way too into the baseball game on above the sushi bar). Also, I must note- this place is WAY WAY WAY nicer on the inside that it appears from the outside. Parking lot is super cramped, but hey, its free, so whatever. Sushi, was okay. It was not as good as I had hoped, based on other reviews, that it would be. It's okay, but not outstanding. Thai was also okay- but really... not that great. Passable I guess is the word I would use. I don't like super spicy thai, but I do want a little kick. I'm a 2-star kind of girl who is sometime adventurous enough to do a 3-star dish. This was like -2 stars. Try the sake- they have some flavored cold sake's that are pretty tasty and do a flight (for lack of a better word) that is a pretty inexpensive way to try them. The Thai is really what takes this from a 4-star review down to a 3-star review.

My husband and I are included in the few people on the planet who don't like seafood... But we love this place! My in laws live pretty much across the street so whenever we are over we leave the kids with them and go enjoy a few beers. The waitresses are always so nice and remember what we get. They even chat a little with us from time to time. I definitely recommend this place for their non-seafood options.

I picked up their tuna salad and it was only okay. The dressing was too sour for the entire salad to be drenched in it. It was over 8$ and the size was a total rip off! Gave me only a few pieces and it was not that fresh too. Megh..

I decided to drop by this place because of the location. My family went to Aquarium pacific in LB and I decided to yelp Sushi place along the way back home. Parking is huge space. We went inside and order a bunch of foods, 2 kids, 3 adullts total about $60.- included 9% tax, I don't know LB paid such a high tax compare to my city in OC. So, be ready for $4-$5 tax on your meal. -1 star for fly wondering around my table, we were having fun trying to kill the fly while we're eating, and also -1 star for the chef who was coming outside to smoke cigarette with his cooking glove in the parking area ( I just hope that he wasn't the one who cooked my meal) +1 for interior decorations inside the restaurant +1 for big space parking lot and +1 for a very friendly and taking good care of my table. Price is OK but the city tax 9% is kinda not. Food taste fine just like regular Thai restaurant, Not a fancy stuffs... A lot of foods pic in menu look tempting but not all items are delicious.

Read a lot of reviews on here. Some said the taste can be great at times and not so good at others. so i took a chance by placing an online order from this spot as my neighbor told me about it a few weeks back. First of all im a very picky guy when it comes to Thai food. Im not from Thai but i am from it seems like little Thai of the Valley. Panorama city/Noho Along with Filipino's that is a huge Thai town. So the restaurants are by the dozens there. And i have tired just about all of it living there 25 years. I ordered the chili and basil chicken ala carte, The chicken pepper and garlic, the half bbq chicken and the spicy noodles (flat nice noodles) I asked them all to be very spicy. Im sure they have heard this before so they really didnt make mine that spicy. Thai food is known by all to be spicy anyway but my taste buds are scorched so i need it very spicy. Im used to the burning taste. But regardless of the less spice it was still very good. The chili and basil item was the bomb! So flavorful and tasty. Not a big fan of flat rice noodles anyway but the gf wanted it so we ended up ordering it. And this one was the same as others. Very bland in taste. Wont order that again. The bbq chicken was also very good. The pepper and garlic dish was good but by far not as good as the chili and basil. The portions were alot. We had a ton of food left over. Ordered an extra dish just because i found yelpers stating on here the portions were small. I guess the yelpers who posted before can hold down their food pretty good because it made me spend more money then i should off. The price came out with tax and tip to $48. Thats a lot for take out. The only item i had an issue with was that they charged $2.00 for white rice. Thats not a lot but when you spend this much throw in the damn white rice will ya! Still giving it 4 stars anyway. The taste of the it all by far surpassed the extra cost of the white rice and the $48 total.

When my bf said THE BEST CRAB FRIED RICE ever I didn't believe him. I'm always skeptical of restaurants with two types of cuisines. Focus on one and be great at it. But dont let this place fool you . They are great at what they do. Thai food is truely authentic. The dishes that are suppose to be fishy are truely stinky. They will warn you but I love it and will order it anyways. Guess they cant tell I'm part Thai. I'm not part Japanese but their sushi rolls are amazing. I havent had a roll I didnt like, always fresh, good fish to filling ratio. Check this out: I hate cream cheese. Will mark no cream cheese before I order anything. The bf ordered a roll for an appetizer (forgot the name but dragon comes to mind). Looked so good I didnt scope it out first. The bite was phenomenal I thought it was filled with nothing but avocado (love). I couldnt tell and now is one of my fave rolls.

Just horrible! Bad food, bad service! We were both tired and decided to stay in and chill out. Called this place for delivery. The lady on the phone was very impatient and asked me to repeat myself several times. Ok, whatever. It took 40min to get our food, you know Dani turns into a b* when she's hungry! PMS multiplies that by 10,000. Food finally arrived, and they screwed up the order. Poke Salad - stringy fish, yuck! Beef tendon soup - way too salty, I had to get up 10 times at nite to chug water! argh! Sweet sour chicken - 2 tiny piece of chicken + a bunch of slushy soggy vegetables. I had 1 taste and wanted to vomit. Never again!

I've lost count of the times I've been there. The food is fresh and tasty. Best calamari! Love their spicy seafood soup, which is not even spicy. The pad thai is also good. Havent had a disappointment. The best part is happy hour beer prices. The waitresses are nice and friendly.

Bai Plu, you've taken my money for your mediocre food for the last time. And you know what is stopping me now? DIARRHEA. Yup. It happened. Everyone in my party of 3 was sick. What did we all have in common? You. Cant do it anymore, wont do it anymore.. And I'm not giving you a 1, because I've loved you before.. but, dear lord, pull it together.

The pad thai is AMAZZZZIINGGG. It tasted even better the next day! Their sushi is pretty decent as well. It's a bonus to get both thai and Japanese together for me. Definitely my new go to thai joint!!!

This is probably the best thai food place I've ever found. Their dishes are really well flavored, and they have a really wide variety of choices. I almost always go with a noodle dish (their curries are good, but they tackle noodles just so well that it's basically a must for me). If you get a nice chef, they'll do some of the rice dishes and noodle dishes (or vice versa) if you ask, or they'll add curry to other dishes. I recommend playing with things. Just really good!

Still just as good as I remember but why have a check in offer if I cant use it just cuz I ordered a roll that was at happy hour price?? Kinda wack to me. There were no exceptions stated in the offer. IJS

I regularly order delivery from here on eat 24. Delivery is super fast (15-20 min) & the delivery guy is always really sweet & friendly which is definitely a plus! The yellow curry with tofu is to die for, perfect sweet & spicy ratio. I've never eaten in but delivery is highly recommended!

This is my favorite Thai restaurant of all time. Not only is the staff extra friendly the food is consistently good. We usually order the extra spicy chicken fried rice, but for those of you who can't handle spice just get the non-spicy. Pad sae eaw also never seems to fail. Their sushi is even good, which is surprising because the guy who makes our sushi isn't even Japanese he's Latino. Baked salmon roll is one of my favorites; Laker Roll and the Lollipop is a close second. The mango sticky rice and green tea ice cream isn't anything special you can pretty much get that at any Southeast Asian restaurant and it will taste the same. The only thing I wouldn't recommend here are their lotus blossoms or anything with scallops, I'm not sure why but it has a really fishy smell and taste here. The staff here is so attentive you don't even have to ask for water you just put your glass on the edge of the table and like magic it refills itself. Ok, so it's not magic, it's their awesome ninja skills. Oh and if you guys are a big fan of Wee Man he comes to this place whenever he's in town. Sorry Wee Man. I'm giving it a 4 star because sometimes the chicken has a freezer burn taste to it and the food portions are never the same. I haven't gotten sick yet, so, I'll be back until I do.

too make a long story short THERE WERE ROCKS IN OUR EGG ROLLSl!!!!! what is going on here?! the waitress took the plate back and then tries too tell us the cooks looked at it and said it was just pepper. IT WAS CLEARLY NOT PEPPER. You could hear it drop on the plate! sounded like a rock. AS HARD AS A ROCK. They didn't make us pay for the rolls and gave is 50 percent off our bill. regardless i am not coming back. WTF! this place is nasty and rude. DO NOT EAT HERE unless you want to chip your tooth on a rock!

All I can say is this place is phenomenal. Great food, great sercive, great delivery. I could not ask for more, unless I was asking for more room in my belly to eat this great food. They are so good that two days ago, I ordered delivery to my work for lunch, and then came to the restaurant for dinner that night after work. Now that Im thinking of it, I could go for something, anything, off of their menu right now!!!!! Highly recommend this restaurant.

This place is the best thai in long beach that i have found so far. Their customer service needs a little work but their food is delicious and they cook to order if you want to change anything on the meal. Their prices are a little higher than the other thai places around but they are by far the tastiest.

We were craving for sushi and pad thai and decided to try this place. We walked in a few minutes after they opened, and the sushi bar was still closed. I ended up ordering pineapple chicken curry instead and boy, was I pleasantly surprised! It was sweet, spicy, not too creamy and just the right amouny of curry. The flavors complimented each other very well. Be warned though, the dish is named "pineapple curry", so don't expect a lot of meat. It's mostly pineapple with chicken toppings. But I love pineapple so it worked for me. I'll definitely go back if I'm in the area.

What a great surprise this place is. I met a friend here as she was visiting from out of town and we needed to find a place we could both get to. I had a vegetable roll and an avocado roll. Best part Inari (dessert sushi to me LOL)

To start of I hate that they put in the auto-gratuities on my check when I get crapy. Service. Now I'm not saying all their service is crapy just some of their servers I guess since they think their Going to put in the auto-gratuities they don't care the quality of service that they going to give you any way their tip is added on automatically. Now to say their is one or two who do give you high quality service and are well worth their 18% or more on tip but today's service was not one of those days I think that the owner should let us the customer to agree or disagree if our server earned his 18% in the quality of service giving to us as a customer ... hopefully the owner will take my opinion as consideration I have to say the food is great but compare that I use to be a very frequently costumer before I started getting bad service that I still had to pay 18% ...that made me come here less often very less often hopefully things change Soon...

WOW! Their menu is sushi/thai bible. Seriously. Even their take-out menu is extensive. Each dish has picture so you know exactly what you are getting when you order it and order we did. Four guys and two girls ate over $300 worth of food. We are huge sushi eaters and let me just say that this place did not disappoint. We ordered so much sushi and other items off the menu that I cannot even remember all that we ate, I just know that it was ALL good. I am so mad that we don't have a place like this in Phoenix. Actually I am happy we don't because my poor wallet would be screaming at me and I would be on a first name basis with the staff. I cannot wait to go back to Long Beach just so that I can visit this place again. Heck my mouth is watering just thinking about it.

I got delivery the day after my b day and was disappointed . The fish was rubbery and did not taste fresh, I got their long beach deluxe platter for $58 plus some other stuff. The only good thing on there was the salmon. I am very disappointed because I ordered delivery from here before and remember not finding all the fish fresh as well.

I usually order from here because I literally live around the corner & they're pretty quick. Their orange chicken is tasty. What I like the best is usually when you go to Asian places you'll find the workers talking shit. The workers are extremely genuwinely nice, I speak Thai I just don't look like it (so I know what they're saying!) minus one star because they charge for extra sauce.

I ordered the wild-caught grilled Salmon collar and the Long Beach Roll (sushi). It was amazing. The salmon was juicy and flavorful and the sushi came with a delicious sauce that may have been Ponzu sauce. Just a fantastic dining experience.

We came here for dinner on the Aki Sushi part of the restaurant and ordered bento boxes that came with a small roll. Pretty good food, just nothing special. The place was pretty empty and the waiter kept dozing off standing in the corner, thought that was worth a laugh or two haha

Love this place. Go here 3-4 times a month. Service is always good, the staff is very nice and attentive. The Panang Curry here is wonderful, I prefer it with tofu and brown rice. The sushi is priced very low so I didn't expect anything amazing and I was right. It's just ok, but very clean which is important! All in all the place has great pricing, a good staff, bomb curry and just OK sushi. I will continue to frequent the place especially because i live very close and I constantly find myself debating between thai food and sushi... they have both. INGENIOUS!!

Just ordered from here and was not very happy with their food. The BBQ chicken house special was bland, the panang curry order was extra salty and it does not come with a side of steamed rice. They charged me 9.99 for just the panang chicken and no side of steamed rice to go along with the chicken. When I called and asked why, they said I could buy some rice to go along with it if I wanted. This is the first Thai restaurant I order from that does not include a side of steamed rice along with a curry dish. Am I supposed to just eat the broth and chicken?? We also ordered the chicken coconut soup and it was nothing but grease and had an abundance of mushrooms. I will definitely not be ordering from here again. Extremely unhappy customer!

Love this place. I am a once-a-week sushi person and this place is always in the rotation. I can't speak to the thai part of the menu but the sushi always has fresh fish and good preparation. Kaz is the best! If you are a spicy tuna fan and don't mind a tough of unhealthy - the crunch spicy tuna is great. Highly recommend!

We decided to try this place since it was close and we did not have that much time for long lunch. This is another fusion type of food but it is close by and we did not want to drive further. We did not try the Sushi but stayed with the Thai menu. We ordered the Noodle Delight and the wide rice noodle right above it (forgot the name now). We tried the Egg Flower Soup. Both the noodles were too salty and not as authentic Thai. The Egg Flower Soup was pretty good and it came in a hot pot to keep it warm. There are cheaper and better Thai in the area. The place is pretty clean and decent size and parking is easy but it is located in the back of the mall so you have to look for it.

Okay, not a great area. As we were leaving my BF saw a group of gangsters spot someone out on the street and started chasing him! Whoa! Anyway, last weekend was my first visit and I was a bit worried and reluctant of sushi places because well, everyone has their favorite sushi spot and I know people who consider California Rolls sushi so you can see why I wasn't too open minded about driving through Long Beach to get to this place BUT after being seated I was pleasantly surprised. Parking lot is small but we arrived early enough that this wasn't a problem. The restaurant has a sushi bar and an area with tables, we sat at the table side because it was a party of 6. It was very chilly inside and was a little uncomfortable so I ordered an Asahi (to warm me up of course!) and it was served with a nice tall glass. The waiters and staff were very attentive and friendly. There is a special sushi menu with "happy hour" type of pricing for $6 for particular rolls, this is great because they have these deals 7 days a week. Anyway, we only ordered sushi , no Thai food so that's what I'll be reviewing. I started with the octopus salad, it was gooood, very spicy. The octopus was cut across (if that makes sense) so you couldn't quite tell it was octopus and the salad included shredded carrots, cucumber, a type of chili pepper, and had a peanuty-yet-vinaigrette type of dressing on it. The flavors were very interesting, unlike anything I've ever had. I had the Sapporro Roll (albacore tuna, asparagus, and avocado) and the Rocky Roll (shrimp, unagi, and avocado deep fried) with a spicy mayo on the side. The Sapporro Roll was great, I love asparagus so that's why I ordered it, it was a plentiful size as well. The Rocky Roll was good but not traditional since it was deep fried, but I really enjoy unagi. I tried some of the Mexico Roll (this is not on the menu), it seems to be a special roll that the sushi chef invented, it consisted of tempura shrimp, avocado, and cilantro, onions, a raw shrimp on top, with, get this, Lucas sprinkled on top! I didn't know it was Lucas powder, so it had a kick to it after I put the whole thing in my mouth! After I swallowed, I asked my tablemate, "was that Lucas I just tasted" and he was smiling with excitement and gave a proud nod, he said, "it's my favorite". I also tried the Philadelphia Roll and it was typical and tasty. I'm not sure I would drive all the way back BUT if I was in the area, I'd definitely go again. If you go, ask for the Mexico Roll, it's worth a try, really, it's good.

I can't say anything bad about this place. Everyone is friendly, the food is good, and there is a great mixed clientele. Everything I had was yummy, especially the coconut milk soup. I would have written the proper name, but I don't want to misspell it!

This place is good for a quick meal. The hot dishes always comes out within 10 minutes and piping hot. Their delivery service is very convenient if you live in the area. Though I no longer live in the LBC, I have one more Livingsocial deal to cash in on sometime this week, and I'm looking forward to it. Their menu is quite extensive (the menu is literally a book), and when we go we usually get a sushi roll or two for an appetizer and a couple Thai dishes as our entrees. I love their pad see ew (with beef), pad thai, and salted fish fried rice. Upon ordering the fried rice, the waiter will most likely ask you once or twice if you are sure if you want to order it... since the smell and taste of the salted fish is rather pungent :) but so good!

Awesome food in an unlikely area. Came here for Mother's day since it was close to my uncle's house and my whole family was glad we did.The restaurant itself is pretty clean given the location. One of my uncles is and ubber picky eater and he loved the food that he ordered. Their curry was super good and their beef salad is the best that i have ever tasted. The bento box was ok nothing interesting. Their portions are pretty good so you will surely not be leaving hungry Good Thai food at cheap prices! =) Enjoy!

Loved this place, decor was not too overdone, the service was great and so was the sushi. apparently we arrived during happy hour "yess!" Took 2 rounds of both the crunchy roll and rainbow. The lady that worked there asked what we thought about the sushi too, my friend wants to go like all the time now.

This place is ok for a quick meal - just like what the other reviewers are saying. For the Thai food - the selection is really too much for the menu that is also filled with half of it being Japanese food. Thai food is OK. Nothing that special. Even the made to order stir-fry plates are ok. I had the Spicy Eggplant and it wasn't all cooked through. For the Japanese food- NOT recommended at all. They have Happy Hour rolls and they all taste weird. The fish is D-quality, the rolls are loose and the sauces are way too sweet and drizzled everywhere. Yucko. The Hubs got 3 rolls - all of them looked BLAH - and as soon as we got home, he hit the bathroom BIG TIME. I'll save you the details. But the sushi SUCKED. Other reviewers also say the same thing.

I love this place because it's nice and cheap. I've never ordered any sushi stuff here, I always order various Chinese dishes. They have a very nice smoke BBQ chicken for lunch platter that comes with rice and soup. The chicken has great flavor and I think the whole order comes in under $6. I also always order the salted fish fry rice. It's a Cantonese specialty dish and this place does it very authentically. Some people might not be used to that flavor tho. This place just has everything, and most of it is cheap and it taste pretty darn good. I've never ordered sushi here, I'm not into rolls and stuff, if I want sushi I'd go to proper sushi shops in Torrance, but for the other stuff, it's pretty good!

This place was amazeballs!! We sat at the sushi bar and asked for suggestions from the sushi chef and didn't regret it one bit. The only roll that we got was wrapped in cucumber and it was not only beautiful but sooo tasty. The rest of the sushi that we had was sashimi of various varieties. My favorite was the maguro. I know that this is a total beginners choice but this tuna was seriously neon pink, so fresh, and had an a glorious texture. I couldn't resist the green curry since this place also had a Thai menu. If it was a little bit thicker it might have been better than Manoras-- but it wasn't.... but still the citrus flavors mixed with the heat of the green curry... MMMMmmmm! When i come back to Long Beach I will go here for sure.

I have been a dedicated bai plu customer for a few years solely because of the excellent flavor of the food. Both locations taste great. However, this location has horrible customer service. I dont see what is so hard to understand about me wanting pad thai with Chicken with 6 pieces of shrimp. The lady over the phone could not seem to understand my order even though i Was very clear, even specifying how Many pieces of shrimp i want. And this happens every time i call or dine in. They get so confused! When the food Was delivered, i got two pieces of shrimp even though it says 6 on the receipt. I called up and told them they got my order wrong and owe me 4 pieces of shrimp. They had me talk to 3 different people and Just say "ok,ok" to my compliant. I Was told the driver would return shortly to bring 5 pieces of shrimp and even though i live 10 min away, it took another hour Just for a few pieces of shrimp. The last time before this i ordered delivery, i waited an hour and the food Was cold. Their food might have the best flavor in long beach but i Will no longer be ordering from this location anymore. Even when i used to live across the street they would always quiz me on where their location is and not believe me that i know where they are located to do a pick up order. I Will only go to the bellflower location ( even though they dont understand the Chicken/ shrimp thing sometimes) but at least their customer service is adequate. Both locations should be the same as far as making it a pleasurable, not Just tasty dining experience.

This restaurant is hiding in plain sight. I order from this Thai food place all the time. I drove by it almost daily. You'd never know it was here unless you were looking for it. Great food. Literally amazing. Although, I am a sucker for noodles (Cambodian/Thai/Chinese style - no matter)... I order their Pad See Ew. It's so juicy and chewy. Just the way it should be. The employees here are amazing also. Very good customer service and they remember my name everytime I come in. I'm a huge fan. What is confusing, is their sushi fusion. Don't get me wrong, the sushi is great. Along with their Japanese style food. It's just a lil odd, having Thai / Japanese in one restaurant. When you walk in, you'd swear the left door was for Japanese, and the right for Thai - and that there would be a wall down the middle. ...but there's not! Come for the Satay, stay for the Sake. Yum!

Amazing spot for both sushi and Thai. Awesome Pad Thai and really good sashimi. If you sit on the sushi side - get Chef Kaz and ask for fresh wasabi. He also does an amazing omakase if you are feeling adventuresome. The Pompano is amazing.

There was a cockroach in my wife's thai iced tea that unfortunately was sucked up through the straw into her mouth before she spit it out. I called and complained to the manager who did not seem surprised. She offered to refund the order but the damage was done. I will NOT be ordering from here again. "That was the most disgusting thing that has ever happened to me..."

Thai and Japanese spot in one - I have never gotten anything from the Sushi Bar so I wouldn't know if the fish is fresh or not but I however have been here a number of times to get Thai. Average restaurant with average tasting food, the only reason why I come here so often is because it's across the street from where I live and it's convenient. For the most part I usually do take-out during lunch so I can catch their Lunch Specials which is Monday-Friday from 11am-3pm. You can pick between Chicken, Beef, Pork, and Tofu for $6.99 or shrimp for $7.99 and it all includes soup OR a salad, steamed OR fried rice, and two pieces of wonton. The choices available are: BBQ Chicken Pepper Garlic Broccoli Oyster Sauce Chili Mint Leaves Sweet and Sour Cashew Nut with Green Onion Ginger Thai Style Baby Corn with Mushroom Mixed Vegetable Kung Pao Mongolian Red Curry Yellow Curry Panang Curry The Lunch Special portions are pretty small, but enough to get me full so I'm fine with that. My favorite items would have to be the BBQ Chicken and Yellow Curry. Thai BBQ is pretty awesome in general, something about the sauce that they use makes it orgasmically amazing, but sometimes the Chicken is bit too dry. The Curry on the other hand isn't too spicy like how most Curry are, but it still has a little pizazz and it's filled with lots of coconut-ty goodness.

i have been here a few times for sushi and its alright. ordered the thai takeout a few times and same thing. i ordered in on sunday because i was much too lazy to go 2 blocks to pick'er up. anyway got the spicy noodles with chicken and it was DE-lish! its those big flat rice noodles which are my fav-o-rite and ground chicken and peas and tomatoes and green beans and carrots and medium spice the way i ordered and yum! soo good and all the veggies were still crisp which was awesome, cant stand when theyre mush! jasmine rice was tasty treat too! seeing how im on a jasmine rice kick right now! OWW!

This is the best sushi I've found in Long Beach. Super friendly service, and the rolls seem pretty reasonably priced. The fish tastes fresh, and both times I've gone to this restaurant I've been very satisfied with the rolls we've ordered. I'll definitely go back!

We went to this place based solely on reviews we found on yelp. The first night, we never even saw a menu for the Thai food and ordered $200 worth of Sushi (the one with mango is the best). Everything was excellent. We decided to come back a second time two nights later, and we got Thai menu in addition to the sushi. The panang chicken was so good, and really complimented the sushi well. A little on the pricey side for some of the roles, but overall I think it is the best find in Long Beach!

I wish I could spend my entire life in Aki Sushi eating their baked lobster rolls. Yes, they're that good. The spicy shrimp = out of this world. The booths are slightly uncomfortable as if the table is an inch or two too high and it's pretty pricey. I would give it another star, but the staff always looks at me like I'm a weirdo... seriously. Maybe I eat too much? Either way, it kind of gave me a complex.

[Note: this review is long b/c I review individual menu items I've order - just incase you don't have a menu and want to try it for the first time]. This place gets bonus points for delivery - I always appreciate it when I can order something for delievery other than pizza, thai or chinese. I ordered from them for the first time today and they were helpful and friendly over the phone. As I didn't have a menu, I ordered a Rainbow Roll, which everyone has and which is the standard by which I judge new sushi places because 1) I get a sampling of fresh fish wrapped around the roll 2) it's a benchmark for size and prices and 3) It allows me to judge their California roll without having to order one. I also tried to order the "Lobster roll" which sounded yummy from one of the reviews, and I think the guy may have misunderstood because he said he didn't have it anymore - maybe he thought I meant realy lobster? But he recommended the Red Dragon Roll, which sounded similar if not identical - spicy tuna & cucumber wrapped in tuna and avocado with masago. I also ordered miso soup; the total for 2 rolls and miso soup was $27. Verdict: Portions: generous for the price, which I appreciated. Red Dragon: very good, didn't skimp on the fish - it was all loaded on there. The spicy tuna could have been spicier but I'm glad it wasn't the mashed-up tartare-type stuff that some places use as their spicy tuna - it was nice big chunks. I'd recommend it. Rainbow Roll: disappointing for the main fact being that THEY USE MAYONNAISE and FAKE CRAB and NO CUCUMBER in their "California Roll". Having a mayonnaisey krab salad in the middle makes the roll mushy and completely throws off the delicate flavor of the fish its wrapped with. Plus, I think some fake krab is less artificial tasting than others, and this was especially fake-tasting (though it's all artificial and different, kinda like the difference between real maple syrup - yum - and fake maple syrup - blarghrghgh). I was especially disappointed because one of the reviews seemed to suggest they were a non-mayonnaisey-krab-krap type of place. So, I had to shovel out the crap from the middle of my Rainbow Roll and try to get past the fake krab juice on the rice. Oh well. I have yet to find a decent Rainbow Roll - Yen on 2nd st is almost there, but annoying for take-out since parking's a pain. That being said, I will probably order from them again for the other, non-California-based roll when I don't feel like driving. However, if I'm going to drive somewhere I'll probably go elsewhere. Update 10/25/08: bump up from 3 stars to 4 stars. Ordered delivery on a Sat night. They were fast: food in less than 30 mins. Also, the rolls I tried were good and the proportion and quality I expected for $40. Spider roll: generously sized, yummy (a pretty safe roll) - minor picky note: the rice isn't as sticky as I like it and feels like it's going to fall apart more easily than I prefer. "Crunchy roll" aka shrimp tempura: exactly as above Masago sushi: generous portion, very fresh masago. Hard to mess this one up. Salmon sashimi: a litmus test for me, and was only so-so here. The portion was generous, but the flavor was meh. It wasn't buttery and savory like Sushi Studio/I Luve Sushi. However, it was fresh enough that it felt safe and not fishy - just not *great*. Miso Soup: good. Hula Hula roll: I ended up not ordering it because it has IMITATION CRAB, and last time I had their fake krab here it overpowered everything else. I just put this in b/c a couple other reviewers mentioned it, and wanted to chime in with my comparison. Once again, if dining in, you could do better for simliar prices (Sushi Studio - which WILL reopen post-fire - and I Luv Sushi are better, fresher, more flavorful fish for the price; Yen is as good but marginally more expensive than all of these guys - the trade-off for their good location and ambience). However, I have to say once again that DELIVERY saves the sushi part of this restaurant. I WILL order from them again for delivery.

Let me just all tell u first that this place is in the ghettoooo....hehe...so it's definitely a hole in the wall type of place....the exterior of the building isn't even attractive...i think anyone would think by looking at the building the food is probably not at all pleasant...well....looks can be very very deceiving...hehe...the food here is excellent...it serves both thai and japanese food and has separate menus for each type of food...i've tried the pad thai which is good but what i really loved here were the japanese rolls...one in particular was the baked salmon roll....whatever sauce they place on top of the roll is oohhh soooo delicious...must come again!!! hehe....ohh fyi there is another location that was recently built in a non-ghetto area...hehe...which is near csulb on bellflower blvd....however, i think due to the fact both locations have different cooks the baked salmon roll served in the one near csulb is just okay...ghetto roll is better!!!! hehe =D

My boyfriend and I usually eat at the location on Bellflower and have always been happy with the service and the quality of the food. Of all the Thai restaurants in our area, this one has the best Shrimp Pad Thai. Unfortunately, they do not deliver near us so when we feel like eating in, we have had to order from the location on 7th st. It is NOT good. First off, of the 5 times we have ordered from them, they have only gotten our order right twice. Not to mention the quality of the food is really not good at all. When I called to tell them they got our order wrong they didn't even offer to send us the right dish. Once I asked for Shrimp Pad Thai with asparagus and they sent beef pad thai. Once I asked if I could have a California Roll (AKA crab meat and avocado) with fresh salmon and they sent me a roll with just avocado on the inside and salmon on the outside and charged $13 for and it didn't even taste fresh. We will no longer be eating or ordering here. Poor service, poor quality, unreliable delivery EVERY TIME.

The food here tastes great. This place makes some of the most delicious Thai food I have ever had. It's also great that they have a sushi bar. I don't understand why some of the reviews put down this place just because they want to serve both Thai and Japanese when they can deliver both beautifully. I just went to Houston the other day, and even they had a sushi bar. My experience there has been great overall.

double sided coin this one-- though i was totally jazzed about the spicy noodle dish that resembled the most closely a long lost thai place in texas, the waitress started the evening off with a bang by making fun of me. i don't know about you, but i've waited tables and it's not the best plan to harass your tippers. anyhoo, the food was pretty good, like I said an actual truthfully proclaimed spicy flat noodle dish that was savory. the egg rolls were unlike any i've ever had, but i'm not entirely sure that's a good thing. there might have been curry in them, but i can't be certain of that or the type of meat in them. the atmosphere was a little bright and circusie. it wasn't very comfortable. so, since the food is pretty good and that's about it, i suggest take out b/c they do delivery for free w/in a three mile radius. if i eat at this place again and i probably will, but from the privacy of my home so i don't have to deal with the smart ass waitress.
